Just resent ... Internet is funny at times

Peter, pitching a wave of the oscillator up/down like in Morphox is not working the same. I cannot set one wave to 16" and one to 32"... With the pitch parameter in the wave editor, the wave is "gone" (no harmonics, linear)... if I try to pitch it some octaves deeper...
Maybe it would be easier to add a simple "foot" button/selector like in Morphox?

Post

Hi 4damind,
I remember that we thought about such switches, but there was a technical reason not to go this route. What you experience (pitching down looses harmonics) is simply the effect that certain harmonics cannot be pitched down accurately (e.g. a 3rd Harmonic would end up in a 1.5th harmonic which simply do not exist in Spectral). Here is how to approach something like this:

Example: You have a Saw and a Pulse Wave and want the Pulse Wave to be kind of Sub-Oscillator (1 Octave down):

Set the Oscillator Pitch -12 Semitones and in the Wave Editor use the +1 Octave Button of the Saw (!) Wave

Hope this helps

Yes, this works and I understand this behaviour.

Btw. it seems there is a bug:
If the octave button is clicked many times after the harmonics are always gone it cannot be increased anymore. Maybe it needs some additional test so the increased value cannot go under "0". Because there is no reset button, the only solution is to load the wave again.

Post

I'm not sure I understand you, do you refer to +1 Octave, -1 Octave or both ? :)

You can use the Undo function to undo both actions.

OK trying the Mac version - first problem is I can't see to open a plugin window in NI Kore 2 (32 bit) - when I try it freezes up the host

edit second time round it has loaded now (after a force kill the first time it froze)

Post

I mean the -1 octave. I it's pushed too often after the harmonics are gone, the +1 octave has no effect anymore.

Yep, thats expected behavior, each + or - Octave adjusts the Harmonics as good as its possible to the grid of Harmonics (1 to 256), everything thats lost is lost, no way to get it back except for the Undo function.

Thank you for your feedback.

Would you mind answering following questions to narrow the problem location:
Do you remember if it was VST or AU plugin?
What version of Kore 2 are you using?

Post

It was the VST, Kore 2 on Mac 32 bit version - but it's working fine now anyway

So far very good !!!

Do You plan any CPU optimization, or it will be as hungry as it is ?

CPU is ac low as it can be for this synthesis method. We have one more thing we can do, but it will only result in about 10% less CPU and also only for limited amount of presets (only those who not use certain modulations). First version of this engine took about 15 times the CPU as now, I could only play a single voice.
