I can relate to that! Still... I will definitely be doing another one.H-man wrote: Right-o, back to work then. My first OSC and it's been like giving birth!
(No offence to the lovely ladies out there of course, I only mean to convey that it has been frightening, painful and beautiful all at the same time).

Well I'm late, late breakfasting with everybody's tracks - probably lunching etc too.
Well done everyone. Thank you for inspiring me and improving my day again.
I may still enter but what I have is still not finished.

Submit whatever you have so far - sometimes it may sound unfinished to you, but others might think otherwisepmj_rit wrote:I may still enter but what I have is still not finished.

Oops, should have read the whole thread first
Thanks for clearing that up, and for checking my mix
And a little more on topic, really great entries so far!

I'm downloading everything. There's a lot to listen to and I'll do it on the move as well as at my PC.
I now realise that my flac file may be a daunting size to download.
Should I re-do the Sound Cloud file as MP3 (320) and then put the flac file in Dropbox?

If I'm not mistaken SoundCloud or at least the KVR OSC Group will store it as 128kbps regardless?pmj_rit wrote:I'm downloading everything. There's a lot to listen to and I'll do it on the move as well as at my PC.

Not sure - I do know that I've downloaded ogg aif, wav, and mp3s and some of the files are very large.H-man wrote:If I'm not mistaken SoundCloud or at least the KVR OSC Group will store it as 128kbps regardless?pmj_rit wrote:I'm downloading everything. I think its probably that the encoding for SC streaming is 128kbps.

Yes, even if the file is already in 128kbs mp3 it will still convert to that format which is slightly bizarre, so best to upload uncompressed and only get a single encode.
This is only for the SoundCloud player. The download file will of course remain as it was uploaded.

Okay, makes sense. I just went with MP3 encoded with LAME at 320. It's still a 20MB file which I would think is acceptable to most?V'ger wrote:Yes, even if the file is already in 128kbs mp3 it will still convert to that format which is slightly bizarre, so best to upload uncompressed and only get a single encode.

I think my bandwidth got throttled tonight because of downloading so much - still not got it all.H-man wrote:Okay, makes sense. I just went with MP3 encoded with LAME at 320. It turns out my file is comparatively modest (some are 80mb), so I'm going to leave it.
