There's been some good stuff said about this: http://aom-factory.jp/
$119 full license or $30 for a year with the possibility to update to full version for $89
FG X is great but frustrating as hell when using the 32/64bit bridge (if you are in Logic 9)
Fab Filter Pro L is really good:)
My 2 cents

Actually it's also 64-bit.Ah Xoc Kin wrote: FG-X is nice, but 32-bit only and a resource hog.
Unless you plan on using several instances or have low cpu it shouldn't be a problem mastering a single wav file.
My favorite feature of FG-X is it's comp.

Well, tried, liked, bought. Maybe it is not the ultimate supa dupa limiter to limit them all, but it appears to work amazingly well on my stuff.
It really does something to transients but this "something" can be tweaked to something good. And it can eat some bass, but the "leveller" control easily fixes that.
And I pushed it to bloody 5 dB GR and it still sounded sweet.
Maybe I,m a n00b and easily impressed (well, not maybe, lol).

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Cool beans! Congratulations! I wouldn't at all worry about the last part you said. If it works for you and if you like it and if you can do great things with it... well, really that's all that matters, isn't it!?

Perhaps for PCs, but for Macs it's 32-bit only.Breval wrote:Actually it's also 64-bit.Ah Xoc Kin wrote: FG-X is nice, but 32-bit only and a resource hog.

With "it" you a referring to which limiter? Xenon in the OP or one of the three mentioned in the post above yours?4damind wrote:I don't like it. There are much better limiters.
And why not give some examples of the "better limiters"?
Not a very meaningful post.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Just a hobbyist here on a PC platform. I picked this up a few days ago. I have Barricade and on a particular track it seemed to eat too much low end. Thought it was a timely excuse to pick up Xenon and very happy that I did - at a bargain basement price. I've wanted it in the past, but couldn't justify the expense.
I also have FG-X, which I use a lot and enjoy - and Xenon is a different beast. I've used both FG-X and Xenon together on the same Master bus sandwiching an EQ and they complement each other well, IMO. I haven't tried using Barricade and Xenon together yet. So, for a very low price I have another competent tool at my disposal.

I think Xenon does a really good job on the right material but in my experience, despite the oversampling option and the recon meter option, Xenon can still let some ISPs through beyond the output threshold I set.
So I put Barricade after Xenon.
I have Barricade doing nothing apart from setting the same output threshold I have in Xenon and activating the ISP option.

I refer to the PSP Xenon. Fabfilter, Voxengo, Flux, Sony Oxford "Sonnox" (in this order) are in my list for a good limiter.Spitfire31 wrote:With "it" you a referring to which limiter? I'm reading a lot of folks who say if you take the time to dig into the manual, you'll discover most of the supposed "shortcomings" are a lack of operator's knowledge. So I'll read the manual
.
I'm not interested in the noise wars. I decided to pick this one up. So far it sounds pretty great to me. I've never been disappointed with the sound of anything PSP-- the GUIs can be a little hard on the eyes. This one's not bad.

Indeed. IIRC there are some options for dealing with transients, as well as 2 limiting stages. It may not be perfect but IMO it usually pays to read the manual (or watch some tutorials)audientronic wrote:I'm reading a lot of folks who say if you take the time to dig into the manual, you'll discover most of the supposed "shortcomings" are a lack of operator's knowledge.
