I prefer #2 and #4 (with less frames)...

I would prefer the GUI of #1 if it had the texture of #4...

...and...

PLEASE, ELIMINATE THIS AWFUL BURGUNDY RED! :help:

Thank you for all your efforts for cleaning and improving the Melda guis, Vojtech. It is appreciated ;)

Here are a couple comments :

I like this one above the most.

Then, this one :

But one thing strikes me : while it looks good, it seems that the more visible features are not the most important ones ? :?:
Well, i don't own MultiPan, so it is just my 2cents, but i own other Melda plugins, but having soooo much space for vumeters and in/out gain seems a bit strange (maybe it makes sense with the AutoPan ?), isn't it ?

For instance, i can't imagine the wet/dry and gain knobs + vumeters taking 50% of the space on the COnvo reverb or the vocoder having  [/img]

Mr. "Lightspeed" Voytech is back on the conning bridge of spaceship Melda... :D

#2 or
#3 (with minor detail improvements)

Sorry to say I don't like any of those. #4 has very good color combination that doesn't hurt the eyes. It will also suit users who tend to work long hours tinkering buttons/knobs making their tracks awesome (or the opposite). But the emboss/bevel/drop shadow effects are bit too much. I would reiterate my suggestion from last page, rethink the collapsible panel approach. Does it make sense to hide the shape/harmony section until one really wants to use it? Also, you can save some real estate by dropping the boxes that shows the values of the parameter. Use tooltip/popup options to display these value when someone puts their cursor on it. For example, you can display 3 more knobs under Band 1 if you move the label below the knob. From a size perspective, Slider knobs are smaller in comparison to the slider hole. All musicians are not engineers, so I would advise to take less for more approach. The plugins are awesome but your skin/graphic choices are making them look like synthedit plugins. Sorry to vent it out like this but the quality is top notch but not so much on the looks. By the way, I am not a fan of hardware type or skeumorphic looks. It should be simple enough from usability point of view.

Here is an idea on VU meters:
Can you make the VU meters show in the background of their respective bands. Just like analyzers on the EQ. A simple button to turn it on or off would be nice too. That will save you a lot of space.

Scroll down and watch out for "burgundy" (both men and women)... ;)

I don't see burgundy, only wine...

Isn't it the same? Bordeaux, burgundy, wine...?

Anyway, it doesn't make sense to discuss about taste as we both know.

All IMO.

#1 I would prefer less obvious 3D edges. And for symmetry, perhaps the multi-band splits panel could be the same height as the meters

In #2 the rotary knobs are too busy, but the edging around the knob label and value is good.

#3? nope. too washed out

#4 - again too much 3D effect on the trackers. And the "Band 1" panel right-hand edge does not look the same as the "Synchronisation" panel right-hand edge. Nor does the caption bar reach the end of the panel. How aobut losing the red bars in the trackers - relying on the knob postiions only?

The more I think about it the more I think that 2 different panel definitions would help a lot - one for panels in windows and the second for panels within panels.

-------------
On balance - I prefer #2, but with different colours ;)

Band-window and a few details missing (too much work for now). There's still plenty of space that could be saved.

Ellasi - nice examples! But most of it I cannot use I'm afraid, mostly the layout stuff, that would be a horrible mess up with the engine. I'm talking mainly about labels unders controls etc. But I could use the visual stuff and some ideas about the layout (sync panel). Note that things are just very very very very complicated, when you have the engine that versatile (resizable, different styles and you can choose between knobs/sliders/buttons).

DarkStar:

You obviously don't like the 3D stuff and rather the minimalistic styles ;). Tricky is the opposite example :). So to the 2D comments:

#2 - what you mean the rotaries are too busy?

#3 - agree, the color scheme sucks, I had 5 minutes to get and upload all these examples, so my taste was kind of "time limited" :D

satYatunes: Ok, maybe you can post something you like? ;) Or PM me or something...
Personally I'm not a fan of HW looking stuff either, but some people are. Look at facebook ;), people are just different when it comes to taste. Actually I was aware of that, but this whole styling experiment made me realize how extreme the differences are! :D

About your ideas:
1) Collapsible - sorry, no. I don't agree, many are on the same page. Btw. you can actually hide the whole stuff except for the band settings using a button above, but that's it. No switching tabs and stuff unless necessary or convenient. The plugin isn't busy enough. Things that you won't use much are already hidden (and there's many of it). I like to have things on the main page, I hate everything, where you have gazillion tabs and switches...

2) Tooltip/popup for values - out of question, sorry. Again I hate every plugin that does that. The units will be next to it, period. Of course, the Ellasi's image where he put it below the slider isn't bad, but there's a technical problem - too much work :D. I'll still think about it, but now I don't see a way to do it easily.

3) VU meters under the bands - I was thinking about it some time ago, but it doesn't seem a good idea for several reasons. For example, you'd still need in/out meters, you often need to easily compare different bands (MMultiBandLimiter)...
Actually I like the new layout you people proposed ;).

No problem, I was almost sure that it won't work (hence no 100% finishing). But there had to be an answer aimed at the Skeuomofo-guys. :x :D

And there, in a nutshell, is the challenge :)

By busy, I meant that the combination of a white edge, white pointer, red arc and what looks like a hollow centre made the rotaries look a lot more complex than the other controls. Putting the red arc on the white edge might help a little.

Time limited? - understood.
