I have gotten excellent results from both the UAD and Waves tape emulators.
I have tried many of the ones mentioned in this thread but Waves and UAD really got it right.

Delay can give depth, bouncing sound off the wall L + R.
Recording Revolution has a video about it with good settings. I can't find it now.
It really makes sounds more 3D, round etc.
For me this is a standard tool in the mix.
