My favorite new synth isn't exactly a new synth, but the new 'Uhbie' filter and Digital Osc in Diva just by themselves make a great new synth. I know hard driven filters are all the rage these days, but the Uhbie is so soft and sweet and round
Then there is Cycle and Monark as runner ups... (for me)

I'd have to say the most impressive for me were:
Monark because of how brilliantly it does analog distortion and breakup. It's maybe the only VSTi I can think of that is so aggressive too.
Spire because it's overall design and sound are fantastic. It's a great addition to the Vsti world IMO and it's a trance producers dream.
Diva because of how well they did the JP-8000 osc and Ohbie filter
Lush - It has a great sound, especially it's unison.

I'll have to check out some of the others, but I'd say Monark and potentially The Mangle.

Cycle.
Still being developed after release but it isn't a rehash of something that's been done before.

I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

What is this cycle, can't seem to find it. Mine would be Spire and Tone 2 Nemesis.

I actually liked Element for the sale price(s); admittedly it's overpriced at list. But I think even with the lack of features it's quite decent sounding for a lot of bread-and-butter stuff - hard to make it sound bad IMO; obviously a matter of taste.
It's curious for what it's lacking - no spread control for unison, for example.

I think that overall: It was a pretty good year for a few more great synths to be added to the digital gene pool.
I'll personally give it to Wolfgang Palm's WaveGenerator port to the desktop. Kind of cheating (since it was initially an iOS app) but wave sequencing done right can be pretty darn impressive...
