Well, thanks for pointing out that "most" here have agreed on "fundamentally false stuff". That goes way beyond a personal attack, as you're attacking an entire group of people. But since you seem to have a fundamental claim to the truth, I'm going to sell all my softsynths, shave my head (oops, that's been done already), beg for forgiveness and join a monastery*.

On topic: best softsynth 2013 is most definitely the burnished-til-she-shines-brighter-than-ever Diva. Even though I'm completely and utterly deluded as to her emulative qualities.

Nobody is talking about banning anybody, but it's kind of weird that you just seem to exist to put TAL 101 down.

It would be better if you picked a softsynth you dig wouldn't it?

But then again, I feel this thread has had a visitation of one of the "software can never beat hardware" guys, so picking a softsynth might be difficult?

Just my personal tastes but most EDM music sounds like a fart support group to me. Regardless of the synths they use. So when so much of it comes out that way, isn't it just a p!ss!ng contest anyway? And doesn't it just come down to whatever flow works best for you?

It's almost funny that you claim that me saying a large group of people here have agreed on fundamentally false things (which I've proven many times, but that's never enough) constitutes a personal attack. But I think it's more sad than funny. Enjoy Diva and try to stop writing drama on audio forums.

They haven't really set the KVR Forum on fire, but they got released in May this year

I was curious about these, but no demo? WTF? OK, maybe I cave on Audio Damage stuff because they have a no-questions asked money back policy, but how they've sold a single copy of these instruments with no demo is beyond me. I wrote the company and asked "Why no demo?" and there response was, "We don't have a demo."

YES! I did forget it! And that's why I mentioned it would serve us better if we first knew what the news ones were that actually came out this year.

But since the title just says 'Favorite synth' now, I guess it really doesn't matter anymore...

Therefore, my favorite synth this year is none that have been mentioned here.

My 'favorites' this year are: Hardware; Kronos. - Software; Alchemy (still)

And another endless KVR list abounds.

Not sure which 'guy above' you're referring too. But since I'm the one immediately above, I'll have to comment...

I agree whole-heartedly with you last sentence, but WaveGenerator hasn't come up on my radar yet. Perhaps in the near future though.

"Favorite" and "most closely emulated" are not necessarily the same thing. You can give me a 1:1 picture perfect virtual representation of a 60's Stylophone, but that doesn't mean its going to automatically be the most appreciated softsynth in this DAW.

2013 is the year of the most closely emulated hardware synthesizers and there isn't much more room for sonic improvement IMHO. When I weighed everything in my top 5, I found this XILS V+ vocoder the coolest, most unique and the VSTI I would least want to part with. It is without a doubt the best Paraphonic VSTI in existence.
