I used to be a big logic guy but when my choices where spend 2k on a new mac or change platform I switched and used my Live license i already had.
I've tried using reaper which i enjoyed but Live just works for me.
I rue the day Apple bought emagic, i really do.

Visual and actual sound lag is intentionaly implimented in Live. If player use a vst instrument that causes latency he tried to play on the timing of the actual sound, not visual. It leads him press keys earlier than the actual timing, and Live places notes delayed spot. It means the position bar runs ahead of the playback of the sound you are hearing. IIRC you can turn this off in the config file.

That logic doesn't work because the midi notes dont' move.

Yes this is a fine feature. But doesn't change the fact that you can't get synced plug-ins to sync properly if there is latency before it in the track. And it doesn't change the fact that automation won't actually affect the sound at the right spots in time if there is latency before the automated parameter in the track.tooneba wrote:Visual and actual sound lag is intentionaly implimented in Live. Yeah, toneba everyone's talking about the automation latency where what's displayed and programmed doesn't happen when it's supposed to, not the position bar.

I sent a message to the Ableton support helpdesk, as I am a registered user of v8 lite, asking to confirm something about the PDC / visual issues.TheoM wrote:

Thanks for contacting Ableton Support and sorry for the issue you are experiencing.
We all agree that this needs improvement (especially when working with plug-ins introducing a lot of latency), but it's not technically a bug, as it follows the specification, as described here:
https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/aut ... t-of-sync/
Rest assured that we know the problem, we hear you, and we're working on it. As to when we will have a solution for you, please understand that we can't provide an exact deadline.
