His/her sense of entitlement.
HE/SHE is owed, and it most happen now and the world revolves around him/her and his/her choices.
sigh.....I keep seeing this more and more.
If you want to keep your old versions (web browser, OS etc) fine... just don't' complain when newer stuff don't work.

No kidding, especially with freaking Firefox, which is free and updates itself. How is it even possible to be 10 versions behind???zvenx wrote:His/her sense of entitlement.

Anyway, back on point, Tony (or anyone else who knows), do you have a mailing list for updates and such? I check KVR as often as possible, but I don't always catch these threads, and really prefer to have notification in my email inbox when there is an update I need to download. Not really a huge deal or anything--just a personal preference, so I thought I would ask.

I do usually send out notifications for important updates like this one. But I always wait a day or two before I do that, because I really want to be sure, that everything's working as expected.sockofgold wrote:No kidding, especially with freaking Firefox, which is free and updates itself. Yep, that's why I prefer it over the original V2 one. Because it looks less raw, and more "finished".3ee wrote:The new GUI looks like it's been really polished and hyped...
Not at all. At least IMHO. I really do prefer it over the old one, especially the new meters.3ee wrote:I suspect that people are impulsively posting saying that they like the new GUI, because they feel happy to see something "new" about the plugin that they like, + it kinda looks better by default at 1st glance because the color/contrast and more shadow 3d-ish look perhaps.. but in reality, do they really like the new GUI better?
To each his own, but I find these new meters way better and they really add something to the overall GUI look.3ee wrote:The old v2 meter seemed better suited?!

You guys out there know NOTHING about other realities! It IS possible to use older versions, and why the hell should every little software be updated to the latest version??? I don't care about your opinions, a site should look good on every browser, regardless if it's outdated!sockofgold wrote:No kidding, especially with freaking Firefox, which is free and updates itself. Well, since you don't care about the opinion of others, who might actually know better, why do I actually waste time on someone who comes out like a moron?Delfinoverde wrote: You guys out there know NOTHING about other realities! Just one word: SECURITY.
You heard about that? It's a very valid consideration when it comes to anything connected to the Internet.

Lot of modern sites don't work on older browsers. And it's NORMAL. Because standard changes, as well as the majority of users having the latest versions.
And well, with all that Internet stuff, sad to say, but you have to keep up. Or else you'll always be complaining.
About updating, well : better support for modern standards, bug fixes (many of that). But if you like having flaws (that have been fixed in the meantime) that can lead to bugs and problems, that's your problem.

Man, you just love to push these "everyone should support all out-of-date software" arguments, huh? Like I said to your other point, it's fine if you want to stay out-of-date, but you really can't expect others to continue supporting your old software. The world moves on, very quickly in the case of technology. If you are going to intentionally stay WAY behind, you need to be ready to be unsupported.Delfinoverde wrote:You guys out there know NOTHING about other realities! @Tony: Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't realize there would be a forthcoming email. Really appreciate it!

well, no one cares about your opinion either. if you chose not to update - be prepared to deal with the cost of not updating. you can't expect everyone else hold back because of your (poor) choices. what do you think is easier - for you to update your browser (one click), or for a developer to go back and download several versions of different browsers (you run Firefox 16, some other guy might still run Firefox 4, yet another guy may run IE 7... you get my point) and test the website with each of those and fix as necessary? you do realize how big is your sense of entitlement, don't you?Delfinoverde wrote:You guys out there know NOTHING about other realities! Nice update(s) Tony! The new UI modes in DC8C2 are a nice touch. Haven't had a go at the new DC1A yet, but I'm sure it's fantastic too.

Just giving DC8C a test run and noticed one weird thing: When increasing the output gain, the gain reduction increases. Well, not exactly the gain reduction but the display, e.g. when the meter displays 10dB of GR and I increase the gain know by 10dB, the GR meter now displays up to 20dB of GR.

This only happens with the output mixed back into the detector (feedback). The feedback signal is grabbed after the output control. That's why you get more gain reduction. It's been this way since the initial release of V1. It happens in most of the easy modes too, since they are using feedback to some extend.fese wrote:Just giving DC8C a test run and noticed one weird thing: When increasing the output gain, the gain reduction increases. Thanks for the update, Tony, much appreciated
Regarding the browser versions: I like the policy Google uses for their apps. They support the current and the previous version of a browser. You have an older version? Tough luck! Simple as that. https://support.google.com/a/answer/33864
