DC1A is the little brother of Klanghelm's upcoming compression monster DC8C. I've taken one of my favorite settings from DC8C and tried to make it work in a two control context. Soundwise it's comparable to the PUNCH mode in DC8C.

I've always wanted to do a compressor with just an input and output knob, a compressor that just works: gentle, grateful, from almost invisible, smooth leveling to heavy pumping with a nice crunchy saturation and punchy enough to treat drums with.

DC1A looks like a one trick pony. But don't get fooled by lack of further controls. You may be surprised, on how many different material this little thing works. DC1A is heavily program dependent.

A great compressor if you're just learning how compression works, or if you need to quickly throw something on your bass, guitar, etc. Subtle settings also help glue the mix together.

This compressor warms the sound and glues everything together. I prefer it when I want a smooth result. However it can be snappy too. I was very impressed with it and I purchased the full version a few days later. But I still use the free version often, because its two button approach works great most of the times. I use the full version when I need to tweak more parameters to get a specific sound.

it is a very good compressor and I recommend it to everyone because it is free and definitely worth trying.

I have had this for a while now actually I bought all of the klanghelm plugins when the big brother of this compressor came out I love that one best comp I have heard in its class.(I mean class by it can basically do anything clean dirty sound like shit or transparent and limit)

Like the person before me I find this thing a gem free looks cool sounds really punchy or smooth depending on the mode you choose.

What I like best is its stable and sounds great with only one button and a volume knob.I actually started using it as one of my go to compressors for stuff that I want to dirty up or just tame if its to dynamic(drums or vocals)

Its a very simple yet powerful beast of a Plugin that I really really enjoy using. Also it has 0 latency so if your tracking you can use it.

In my opinion it sounds great and really gets stuff to sound beefed up or smoothed out depending one what mode you use.

keep in mind no other controls than what you see the Vu meter shows gain reduction and there is no limiter control or wet dry but still its a great peace of work.

There are two modes one has a more dirty compresses sound the other more of a clean sound enough said its free and works on windows mac 32 64 bit. Just download it and if you love it get the big one its even better

Well, this is a nice little gem! A free, cross-platform, dirt-simple compressor that delivers a punchy sound that is great for enlivening instruments. I could see this getting a lot of play on drums, and also on things like pianos, that benefit from a strong attack and added sustain.

The interface is tasteful and appealing; a nice "aged" look that signals what to expect from it. And, of course, the two-dial compression solution - you drive it with the input and compensate with the output, 1176-style. Simple. Done. The VU meter gives you a nice, attractive readout of gain reduction too.

The compression character is nice and snappy, with a strong attack characteristic and long-ish attack, super-ideal for snares and adding ye olde "punch" to material. I'm lucky in that it just naturally gives off a kind of compression I tend to favour, so I think I'll be using it a lot in projects. As a composer-mixer-DIY guy, I tend to favour simple solutions for those times when I can't take an hour to dial in the perfect compression. It's nice when it just has it.

An almost-instant update just added a new feature, a "relaxed" button which allows for a more natural sound. So now you have two free compressors in one!

In a way, it reminds me a little bit of Molot, another wonderful free compressor that can drastically change your input signal. You just don't have to worry about any settings with this one - at all!

To sum up, I highly recommend, and I love that it's cross-platform. A big kudos to Klanghelm for offering this freebie, and considering this is just a "snapshot" of its bigger brother, I look very forward to checking out the full version (and at $20, it could be a real threat!).

Well I must say that I am quite biased cause this is the kind of compression I have always dreamed of. It is smooth, can pump nicely and it is SIMPLE.

I find it works well on all sorts of material, but i like the pump it gave to my drums.

The only negative thing I can say about this is it seems to turn down the high end as you crank it up. In comparison to the IK 670 it sounds good, but lacks in this high end/mid frequency at high compression levels.

This is still a free Comp that i think most would be foolish to pass up. It is just so smooth and simple. :)

Thank you!
