Maybe you could label it something different, if it doesn't actually afford the user expert control in the traditional sense.

McDSP seem to have different controls per Compressor in their 6030 Ultimate Compressor but they label the different Compressors differently.

I just bought your Compressor yesterday and haven't loaded it up yet, so I could be confused about the confusion but I am interested in how this all turns out! :)

For V2 I made the switching from easy to expert easier with a single click. Because it was a very popular request to make it this way. You just can't make everyone happy!!! Oh, I don't know if you're aware, that when switching back to easy mode after changing to expert mode and wondering, did the sound change?, the settings are still there.

The new GUI is definitely an improvement over what we had before. I didn't like the previous GUI at all. There is much better contrast making everything that much more legible. The lighting and shading is alot better too making the interface 'pop out' more and not look so flat.

But I still prefer the old GUI for DC8C 1. It's still the best one.

I like the new one most...it's great. :)

The manual doesn't explain this question:

Does the operation mode (normal/clean/smash) affect the attack or both attack and release curves?

It seems to me that it affects both attack and release... if that's true may I suggest a better placement for it?

v1o, here's a different, "better" revision that was part of the v 2.0 release.

Just one word: SECURITY.

You heard about that? It's a very valid consideration when it comes to anything connected to the Internet.

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

What a lovely update! Thanks Klanghelm!

EDIT: I might have found a bug though. In expert mode and attack set to "smash", the release behavior with negative program dependency is weird.. it doesn't work at all like it does with the other modes and doesn't seem to work the way I remember the last version worked (unfortunately I was stupid and replaced the old file so I can't very it!).

Anybody else noticed this?

Cheers!

Thanks for the update. The GUIs get better each time!

This only happens with the output mixed back into the detector (feedback). The feedback signal is grabbed after the output control. That's why you get more gain reduction. It's been this way since the initial release of V1. It happens in most of the easy modes too, since they are using feedback to some extend.

D'oh! Somehow I never noticed that. Okely-dokely...

One thing that I find a bit confusing is the placement of wet/dry control in internal signal routing of dc8c. Because its before the output makeup gain, one have to adjust mix and compensate the output at the same time. That is why I have to use DAWs external wet/dry on plugin wrapper/mixer etc.
+1 I'm having problems with that too. Wet/Dry would be much easier to operate if dry was the completely unprocessed signal. Only that way can I set the processed signal to the same perceived loudness as the unprocessed and then try to get the best mix of both.

It doesn't seem to sound different from positive program dependency, -100 or +100 to my ears sounds the same, if that's what you mean. This is different in the other modes.
I restored the "old" version, but that behavior was the same there.

After months of being bummed out because I couldn't get version 2 of DC8C or IVGI to work with Mulab, I am extremely happy that as of the latest Mulab update, they are now working perfectly together and I finally get a chance to use these great plugs. I'm still not sure if I like the DC8C2 GUI better then version 1 but it definitely sounds fantastic.

Now I want to pick up SDRR even though I feel like with Saturn I already have all of my saturation bases covered.

Any SDRR updates?
