External Drive Enclosures............

Is there a diffrence between getting a pre-built external HD, and one of those enclosures you can put together? Are they both safe enough for data back up? Can anybody recommend a good enclosure? It seems like thats a better value for the money.

i've been looking into this too recently. obviously, with a separate enclosure, you can easily switch to a bigger hd should you ever need to. on the other hand, someone pointed out to me that a prebuilt external is made for the purpose and is therefore probably better protected when being carried around, shaken etc. that's where i stand now. price will probably decide for me in the end.
