CPU over 100% and 1.3gb of ram?

When I start Bitwig in demo, it pins my CPU (8 cores) to well over 100% and eats up 1.3gb of ram and I havent even done anything. The cpu spike lasts about 5 mins (then down to 2-2.5%) but the ram stays locked.

Anyone seeing this?

Bitwig 1.0.2
osx 10.8.5
quad core, 8gb ram
