It's excellent. I don't know how it compares to the sound of the original hardware units, but my impression of the Legacy Series is one of high quality and satisfaction. I even have the mini MS-20 USB controller keyboard for the MS-20 software instrument. It's fun

My only complaint is that the GUIs are too small. Korg need to take into consideration the higher resolution/larger displays that are common today, as opposed to what was common when the Legacy Series was first released.

Hilarious. Thought this was a new thread. Reading the opinion that Legacy won't be ported to Longhorn was a wake up notice to check the dates on these posts. Are you folks satisfied to see that Legacy Collection not only got updated for Vista (so many Longhorn features dropped by that point), but got 64-bit support recently too?

I was thinking the same thing.

I dont know Asynth, but the fact that Synth1 has absolutely nothing in common with the tonal character of a Polysix, let alone that of the MS-20, is so blatantly obvious i can only wonder how any person who is not totally tone-deaf could not hear the difference.

Exactly right.

You can get into similar territory with something like the VS, but of course the tonal character will be totally different.

In my opinion the very uniqueness of the WAVESTATION makes the emulation one of the most important emulations released so far.

These are great, I have used and owned most of the hardware and the legacy software stands up very well.

Some of the best emulations available.

I have been using the Legacy Collection (digital and analog) for several years, and I have had a hardware M1R and Wavestation A/D from when they were first available. The M1 emulation sounds identical to the hardware M1, as far as I can tell. The Wavestation sounds slightly more clear, presumably, because the samples are at a higher rate than the hardware version. However, for a small minority of my sounds, I have not been able to achieve the same smoothness on the SW version as I have on the HW version. When I have brought up that point previously in other forums, I have been told that I am not correct, and that the SW versions is actually superior sonically.

In any case, I consider the Legacy collection to be a quality product, in terms of sound, value, performance, and documentation.

I currently only have the M1 and the Wavestation.

I love the sound of the Wavestation, I used it on my latest track.

One of these days, I'm going to make an entire track using the M1. I use the M1HousePiano preset all the time, even created my first "sample a chord and play it back in a sampler early 90s house/rave" sound using that the other day.

A bonus for Logic Pro 9 / X users -- the Korg Legacy Collection has been indexed into Logic's aupreset format for Logic's Library. I.E. the hundreds of patches show up in Logic's browser indexed as if they are factory sounds. The aupresets are available in this thread: http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewt ... =8&t=15267

Re: Legacy collection. The M1 and Wavestation are standouts imo, but there are nuggets in every module. One of the best purchases I have made in my recent (last five years of) GAS.. Have never looked back, and never had a regret for having picked 'em up. On the downside -- Korg isn't actively supporting these instruments, but there is a half active user community still hanging in there.

I sold my M1 before purchasing the software so I cant do a side by side A/B but I owned the M1 for years and it was my main axe for some time.

I still work with it regularly and have
hundreds of new presets.
The M1 stands up to many new synths solidly.
A true classic.

and is why i chose the T2ex(the 76 key super M1) for my master controller/synth
strings, choirs, bells, organs, acustic basses still hold up against current stuff imho

Other than having the mini MS-20 USB controller, I'd say the same as Jace did here.
