it was more than the average game (I'm no footie fan either) but it was addictive.

Valley - The atmosphere over hear (UK) was just amazing. Almost everyone was into it.

I can imagine. I'd have liked to have been there. Sitting in front of the TV in a country that thinks my national flag has something to do with the red cross, and trying to explain that there is more to 'soccer' than punch ups and attempts to invert Ford Fiestas is not quite the same thing..

Did I miss englandshire getting beat?

If so; f**k!

Flag waving bunch of jobby jabbers.

Still, thier better than my national team. In fact not sure if we have one or ever did.

Point is, if england ever win anything it's a big f**king deal and when they lose it's a big f**king deal but somebody elses fault.

Result? Big f**king deal.

The english are a bunch of very sore losers as opposed to us scots who are great losers (we're experts at losing)

Hell I don't even like football. But I'd rather see them cocky asswipes lose than my own national team win (unlikely)

All that fuss about flags (fuelled by the rugby success) we scots have been flying our flags in the face of failure for years.

HA HA! just checked. You're out. Good. Might get some peace when I watch telly now.

If only you wouldn't go on so much about how great you are, I might support you, my neighbour.

No point in slagging the scots, I know we're shitter than your team. But it does not dampen my pleasure in the slightest!

And whats with all the violent reactions! Tossers!

Talk about spitting the dummy!

'fraid so.

Scottish fans never wave their flags on the times they qualify? Maybe it was the Swedes waving Scottish flags I saw last time England and Scotland played a friendly? ;)

I think that's a factor of how we tend to lose. We play it close enough that it only takes one piece of bad luck, or one dubious refereeing call and we are out. To be fair we have had a few dubious calls in our time too. The Maradonna handball still counts as one of the most blatant. ;)

Really though what I'm seeing mostly, though admitteldy not from inside England is a recognition that Portugal beat us in a close match.

Well that's a damn great big constitutional argument you are wandering into there. England's flag is supposed to be the Union Flag, not the St. George, because we are supposed to be British first and English second. Devolution has changed that, and unfortunately the far right have been able to pick that up as a way of making the St. George a symbol of nationalism, as opposed to a symbol of a nation.

Anyway, that's politics, and even more off-topic than football, which is off-topic enough. ;)

On this forum? I really haven't seen any. In general? There wasn't that much hooliganism this time round it seems. No worse than I'd expect at any time when too many people are pissed in the streets.

Yeah. Good call valley dude.

As I said I'd like to support the neighbours but they don't make it easy.

I'm proud to be scottish but I'm prouder to be british. The rivalry between the "unionised" nations is daft.

We scots are daft for the St Andrews flag but such waving does not incite any far right stuff and I think it is sad that the good english folks have had they're flag mired by such nonsense. The different flags of the home countries should just be regional, and playfully waved. Like different schools or something.

If there was a "British" team, would there be any scots in the team I wonder?

I may be talking shite as I'm enjoying a wee dram!

By violent reactions I was referring to the news reports I saw while trying to track down the score.

I don't mean to start anything but when was the last time you heard of scottish fans causing trouble. Maybe if we were any good and got so far and then "got robbed" (like the english maybe just did) but I don't think so. I'm sorry if I over generalised - but why hit people cos your team got beat. Personally I never hit anyone ever for whatever reason (exceptions excepted).

I'm sure there are no "casuals" on this forum. Too much inteligence requierd! Required even.

Starting to feel a bit pished now.
