Some of them are better than others but I guess they're usually pretty close from what I can tell. :)
Couldn't say how close they are but really like the thread & the results, thanks!

Bought Presswerk last night. I'm able to use this right now, beta status regardless, I suppose things will be smoothed out, but there is nothing bug wise that prevents me from working.
I knew it was inevitable after a couple of hours of playing around.

In case anyone is wondering you can use the coupon you get from doing the customer survey on the U-he site on purchasing this at the current 'early bird' price, so it comes out even cheaper. It's a silly price for what you get. No brainer.

I like the fact that there are no presets yet, gave me a chance to listen critically.
And I love how this sounds. I enjoy fiddling with physical knobs/buttons but strapping this across the stereo buss and comparing it to my Drawmer 1968... man, it sounds great.
Vocals, drum buss, bass guitar. I can find pleasing uses for this all over.

Great job U-he/Sascha/Urs! I think Presswerk will join Satin being used on most of my mixes.

Thank you so much for them!

I am finding this uses more power (according to asio level in cubendo) than almost all my other often used compressors: including dmg audio's compassion, slate digital's vbc, softube's summit audio and tube tech, ni (supercharger gt, vintage compressors and premium tube series), which all except compassion model transformer saturation etc....
Is this just my system?
And no I don't even have HQ on.

The presets could be some useful starting points. Good combination of this complex unit.

Being using it for a week.

We're in Distressor's territory.

Though I can imagine that this is the future for U-HE's FX module range - "sandbox environments".
Why don't you take the u-he survey and get that $25 voucher? Also, eating is overrated...
And what do you mean by "sandbox environments"?

How long is the beta period expected to go on for? I'm shamelessly asking as I'm wondering how long the special pricing will last for. I just loaded it up yesterday and for someone who recently asked on the Production Advice "how are people using compression in electronic music", as I just wasn't getting it, I do seem to be getting on well with this so far. (But then they also say a bad workman always blames his tools)

Where I can buy it? Link please?

The voucher is time limited, and I'm short on funds for the next couple of months.
Even shorter if I happen to loose my current dayjob (there is a trend recently, that work contracts are not extended).

Take a look at DMG's Compassion for example, or the a tad more limited Klanghelm DC8C-2, and then compare it with U-HE's Presswerk.

Now before people go guano doodoo on me again, let me point out one essential thing:
With the available parameters/modes, you can create whatever compression device you feel like with it.

Now take a look at SATIN. You can create an uber clean tape machine with it, or reconstruct models from yesteryear. You have a "construction kit" in your hand, or a "sandbox" so to speak. You can mold and shape whatever you want out of it within the given limitation.

This is what I call "a sandbox environment".

Actually, I also see a modular host and basic modules (filter, LFO, VCA, etc) as "sandbox tool" to create whatever FX I might need.

guys something i haven t find in any compressor and imo would be very usefull, is a locked make up gain , for example i lock it to - 10 db so the compressor output is always at - 10 db that way we can adjust attack and release ,ratio ect wihtout beeing tricked with the louder sound better ..

same would apply with a eq with autogain, seems a popular feature these day (even if some plug eq have this this feature since maybe a decade ) having no way to calibrate it make it half as usefull .
