The UI doesn't irritate me really. Modeling or not. I think leave it as is since most are familiar with these iconic designs.

Yes! By adding MORE classic GUI's and maybe an enhanced subpanel per plugin to have control over the... er... "mojo" (saturation).

Or maybe create a "custom GUI" builder, where the bottom panel can be "opened" like a cabinet, then people can build their own "compressor", set specific values (and lock them!), save it as "view" mode, etc. Though this might be a huge workload, as it's an uber-advanced feature.

So please - no removal of the classic GUI's - give us more on that end.

I used PRESSWERK last night on a documentary voice over. Just the 1176 mode - and it really did the job while I was struggling with other compressors that I had at my disposal. And this is what I'm looking for in such a tool - versatility, ease of use, instant gratification.

Can't ask for much more.

Well, actually I can - I just did with another FR. :hihi:

Is there an easy way to register the regular serial, when the beta-serial is already in work?
A simple uninstall-reinstall routine or similar?
(on Mac)

Post

In Harrison Mixbus when I resize the gui to a smaller one The banking plate that frames plugin is still original size. Not got any other plugins that can resize to test if its a Mixbus thing or not.

Escuse me, if this was already asked:

Will the saturation part of Presswerk be available seperately later?

It does things, I can't recreate with other saturation plugins.
Nice things!

If u-he could do a dedicated saturation/color plugin, it would be great indeed.

I'm all in :D !

The context menu of the data display should include "Enter non-beta serial number". If (for whatever reason) that doesn't appear, then delete this:
Mac HD/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library/Application Support/u-he/com.u-he.Presswerk.plist

Reload, and Bob should be your uncle ;-)

Hi Howard,
Rob helped me in the meantime :-)

As it seems (at least on my mac) MacOS 10.6.8 doesn't show this context-menu.
But erasing the plist file did the job!
Good feeling to see Presswerk working as an official member of my Plug-in-family :-)

Hi,

Downloaded the beta, instant buy, Presswerk is a flexible workhorse and sounds in the big league of plugin dynamics treatment imho.

It was an immediate wow, on all kinds of sources, with tweaking a few minutes only.

A few days later still have the same impression, and still hear things I like I am not sure I would be able to obtain with only one existing plugin, and not right away with hardware either.

The ease of use despite its complexity is refreshing, and the different views are genius : emulating existing popular workflows/known layouts rather than trying to nail the last few percents of the perfect analog emulation (which anyway is pointless)

ok, now the romanticism is out of the way : this must have already been posted by someone, but 22 pages of forum :hihi: ....

* possibility of editing the different views would be killer, plain and simple: make the interface as crowded or as minimal as you want controlwise.

* possibility of creating macros linked to one control would be insane : imagine one "timing" control where you could start off with fast attack-slow release and slowly go to a slow attack-fast release :D

this kind of modularity/use of scales already exists in Zebra - so come on, u-He, that must be doable :D

oh and finally

* possibility of switching from hardware layout to "under the hood" of that very one : let's say you like the 117x layout but only want to adjust the hpf sidechain "under the hood" and then come back to the 117x layout, without having access anymore to the more complex settings, wouldn't that be ace (pun intended)?
Because right now: whenever you switch from hardware layout to normal layout, the changes you make are not linked to the former layout...so in fact you're either in the complex normal layout or the simplified hardware reference layout, which I think is one step away of unleashing's Presswerk monsterly potential 8)

best

Just a GUI request, if I may. Could you please change (or give an alternative) to the red? This isn't the worst red, but I have big problems with red over black. Olive green could be a good possibility for an alternative, and goes well with the rest of the GUI too.

Olive Green might look nice indeed.

Another FR for the 1176 "view":
An "attack off" button, to create the infamous "1176 as preamp" effect, as this disables the compressor and only leaves the Input/Output gain modules.

In my opinion, the first competitor (that shall remain nameless) that I would want to compare to Presswerk, is something I can't even use: the competitor has a system requirement of a Mac OSX that is newer than what I have (I tried Mac OSX 10.9 and things did not go well at all, I reverted back to OSX 10.6.8 ), and I would need an iLok (which I don't want to buy). Advantage: Presswerk.
