Hi Yıldırım - so you are the guy :)

I understand what you're saying, or rather what you mean, and I apologize for my rant. I also ungraciously didn't mention that I found your music in your videos very beautiful. That's one of the reasons I bought Nora. You inspired me.

I'm one of those "show me" learners - very slow with the left side of my brain. Other people can read something and get it but that doesn't work for me. Must be because I was a war baby :)

So far I've been blindly stabbing buttons and switches in Reaver and Nora but I know this is not the right approach. A good step-by-step visual or video tutorial using Reaper and Nora will get me started.

BTW, I don't think your English is too bad. I think you have a little stagefright and embarrassment about letting us hear your voice, warts and all.

PS: When I first arrived in New Zealand in the fifties I could only say "Yes" and "No" in my mother tongue. :)

Good wishes to you Yıldırım.

Hi gigasquid :)
no need to apologize, didn't offend me at all because you were right about fast movements
it was a quick "in the action" demonstration for the Reaper users that already familiar with using midi fx and track routing stuff.
and
i agree proper Tutorial Videos would help to a lot of user get things very fast about Nora + capabilities.
i am happy if i attract you to join to the Nora community :)
I totally understand the ("show me" learners) because its describes me as well.

again, thanks for the kindly comments.
Best Wishes.

I had time today here is the my first "slowing down" attempt :)
showing / creating a light version of my default Nora Track Template in Reaper from scratch.

ill upload part 2 also...
just to show how to plug/attach Nora Out tracks to your Instrument tracks...
so nothing special
here is the part1

part2

Thank you, yellukhan :tu:

Many thanks yellukhan! :tu: I will import these two vids into my video editing program where I will slow them down a bit more, sharpen them a little and try to save them in a hi-res format. That way I can read where you're clicking on the Reaper interface and see more clearly what you are doing.

i use DistributoR track for record Nora's output at once in one multitrack midi item.
also in Reaper we have Action : "Apply Track/Take Fx to item (output midi)" ..and plus: "Take Crop Active Take"...
if you place your chord progression to Nora's track ( instead of "chords to Nora" track)
you can use this actions and get final / sequenced result instantly without recording,
I see. Thx for the explanation. :)

For those of you who, like Squaredheads and yellukhan, have a laguage-related problem with adding voice narration to tutorial videos, perhaps http://www.naturalreaders.com/ might present a solution. And it's free!

Then again it may be too time consuming.

I have just tried NaturalReader and the available male and female voices are excellent - way better than those early robotic voices. There are also Spanish, Italian, French, German and Arabic voices.

NaturalReader can also convert any written text into audio files such as MP3 or WAV.

Just an idea :)

PS: I thought there was a catch. The free version uses somewhat lower quality voices.

I test the Nora Demo 2.01 in MUX modular VST plugin with sampletank 2.5 using a Piano and a Bass sound. I do not see how i can switch on the hold mode. so the pattern is continue to play when i release the keys and play position is not reset when i press new keys. this also allow time to press the key to switch to a new scene. most arpeggiators have this hold mode. so i guess Nora have this too. But how i can activate this ? I search manual for hold name, but find not

BTW:
I read the manual on page 37 but i see not explain that i must press the keyboard icon on top, to switch to midi configuration mode. i only notice by random with the color change, that this is the color show in manual. first i think there is another skin used. maybe you can explain better, that first switch in midi config mode

Since there are not any video tutorials for getting started with Nora's new features, I started a quick tips thread.

If anyone has any quick tips for using the new features in Nora, please post them here:

Thanks!

Hi, there isn't a "latch" mode yet. I understand your problem. I was planning how to add it to Nora the last week, however I was planning to restart the arpeggio/phrase when you change the chord in internal sync mode. Since I want to keep Nora UI as simple as possible I must carefully plan this feature, but this is the first aproach with this latch feature:

- When Sync with host mode and Latch are enabled (AND the host is playing) -> Phrase/Arp does not restart, it continues in the same point.
- When Internal Sync and Latch are enabled (OR the host is stopped) -> Phrase/Arp restart.

Yes, you're right, the manual need more references I think. It's on page 14.

The more the user focus on initiatives like this one, I'll have more time to develop Nora ;)

yes, this i mean. And most important it must continue to play the notes, when the keys are released from input or midikeyboard.

You might want to try using midiChordHold by Piz. It is part of his Piz MIDI plugin collection. Just put it in the chain before Nora.

Here's the link http://www.thepiz.org/plugins/?p=pizmidi

Hope this helps.

Feature Request...

How about having the Randomizer randomize 'selected notes' in a phrase.
One can just select certain notes of a phrase and have the Randomizer applied to 'only' those notes, instead of having the whole phrase randomize..
One can accomplish 'subtle' variation from that phrase by only applying randomization to just a few selected notes...

Edit.. Or maybe this can already be done?

And an undo button on the Randomizer would be nice also..

I've thinking about this when I implemented the "Mutator" engine. It will come at some point.

Rajah wrote:And an undo button on the Randomizer would be nice also..
This one is complicated due that Nora use a single-note randomization, ie, if you're using a 80% density setting, maybe you could obtain in one cycle 70% of notes, and in the next one 95% of notes. That way of calculate the phrases is doing difficult I implement a back-foward button in the randomizer (it's not impossible, just difficult). I'll place it in my to-do list, but with low priorty.

At the moment, try to use the Snapshot/Reset buttons, or reopening the randomizer, since this will create an undo point. You don't need to close and open it again, just open it again while it is opened already.
