Yeah, I see your point. I agree with your description.trance_lucent wrote:...

Hi Urs and u-he team! Wishing you a very merry Christmas!--= Ju =-- wrote:Urs wrote:This sounds like an old bug has found its way back. Does it work in any other host for you?--= Ju =-- wrote:Both this and Presswerk crash as soon as I load them in EnergyXT 2.7on Win8.1 64bit.
Anyone else get the same?
Regards.
I get instant Hive crash in EnergyXT 2.6 and Cubase 6 LE. The Cubase one was nasty, everything froze and I had to reboot. Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. Might give it a go in Reaper tomorrow and report back if any issues.
Cheers guys, enjoy your holidays

While following up my initial noise filter request with a second one for more mod slots was initially a joke, I'm finding that if you start using the mod slots to fine tune parameters beyond what's available on the GUI it's actually conceivable to run out of slots. Especially easy if you start increasing the effect of modulators by repeating them to the same destinations; one solution to that might be to offer 3 or 4 destinations from the same modulator, and/or a multiplier like I suggested before.Fritze wrote:Yes, you're right. Yes, more mod slots, please...
The other thing for me is the temptation to use a CC like the Mod wheel for massive textural change, like the Morph function of the NL3. More of a live performance thing, though, but it requires assigning lots of parameters to the same source modulator; an aid to this could be a way of linking a mod slot to other slots.
The nightmare of VI development of course is that possibilities are endless. In the hardware world, you're given a finished product and you work within that world of limitations for a time till you get new hardware, or limited mods through firmware updates. In the software world the sky's the limit; you have to be a tough nut to stand up to the typhoon of ideas with your own conception of where you want your machine to go. I get the tantrum, Urs.
Hive is already a remarkable achievement in its current state. Of course there are a number of issues to resolve, but a good synth design to me is one I don't have to fight to get to musically useful results; and I'm not spending much time fighting Hive.

Quick little (and I mean little!... very short) demo I made with some of the noises I'm making for Hive.

PS: Excuse the bad mix, slapped together in a few minutes + only Lim on master and HP EQ on some channels.

Four things:
1. Sylenth has four oscillators and each can be tuned to a different octave, but in Hive it's only two - is that correct? A bit disappointing if that's so. With Sylenth, you could get amazing results just changing the octaves on any generic preset.
2. Is Hive's preset filing going to be good?
3. Will there be a thorough Hive tutorial video?
4. Please use computer keyboard arrow keys for stepping through presets. Clicking a mouse all the time is annoying.

You can tune boths suboscs independently of the main oscs, so I've got four oscs which can play at four different octaves.martingifford wrote: 1. Sylenth has four oscillators and each can be tuned to a different octave, but in Hive it's only two -

You could use the Via slot in the mod matrix to achieve that for at least some use cases, but maybe you're trying something more elaborate and in that case, you're right, extra slots wouldn't go amiss.Breeze wrote: The other thing for me is the temptation to use a CC like the Mod wheel for massive textural change, like the Morph function of the NL3. if a filter is set on bypass, i still have to turn the volume knob to get a signal from osc.
so, does the filter section work more as an channel?
Because if i uncheck the osc button in the filter there is no signal, also.

The Osc's always go through the Filter sections. In the Filter sections you can turn on what you want to go through them. In Filter2 you can also choose that Filter1 goes through it. You can also assign the Osc's to both Filters...sugo wrote:if a filter is set on bypass, i still have to turn the volume knob to get a signal from osc.

Yep, but it seems that i have to turn the filter-volume up to send the osc signal thru the filter, anyway. Normaly in bypass-mode the signal from the osc go directly to the output, fxsection, or whatever next. but not thru the bypassed. or do i something wrong? these filter-volume-knob irritates me. i mean, if the signal always goes thru, why there is this filter volume knob enabled. for what?
