There are some interesting aspects of the version of HIVE he has on his screen. There are a few things about it's GUI there that I prefer to whats on the current beta.

I think they take a more down-to-earth approach to the work environment. It isn't all about stressful deadlines and waterfall models with estimates and projections and all that garbage that permeates in most businesses. Instead, it seems more relaxed and that they really enjoy the work they perform.. it is something they want to do not just something they have to do.V0RT3X wrote:There is something very Zen & Laidback about the U-he offices, which is surprising consider how much work they do.
Really nice. Of course it doesn't work for all shops but too bad there aren't more companies that prescribe to this notion of the work environment. People seem to just do their jobs and I bet there isn't a whole lot of micro management.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

@urs, is that a Roli Seeboard on your desk?
if so... had time to play with it? what do you think?

I'm kind of surprised that Urs has quite a few freelancers working for him these days and wonder why that is. Wouldn't you prefer to hire your own full employees for specialized DSP projects like these and
let them develop themselves with the companies knowledge and view further into the future within your own company?
Not saying they are not capable of course!

No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Yeah I was wondering about that too. Are the freelancers GUI artists perhaps? I can see how, depending on workflow, it might not be necessary to have them around full time.

Oh they do have a full time GUI designer. Nice!Suloo wrote:Basti is the GUI designer in fulltime.
I've always loved the u-he GUIs. They are the perfect middle ground between pleasing realism and straight-up usability. Many other plugin makers seem to chase realism (so many 3D raytraced interfaces these days) and forget they're making something that people actually have to use hours on end.

Maybe the freelancers work remotely and/or part-time?
Great interview though, it was nice to see the fearless leader in action. Here's to a bright 2015 for U-he!

Absolutely, and let's not forget the fantastic GUI zooming with HD textures which I haven't found on any other plugin yet.a-type wrote:Oh they do have a full time GUI designer. Nice!Suloo wrote:Basti is the GUI designer in fulltime.

There are plugins which are around for years now, without any substantial update (Massive, Sylenth), I guess those companies easily could have implemented things like zooming by now, but they just refuse to work for their existing customers it seems.

Adding new features to existing products not only serves the current customer base, it makes the products more enticing for new customers. You can also see that U-he has turned it's own customer base into it's best advertising and marketing engine. Word-of-mouth is a powerful thing and you have to earn it, not just pay for it like other forms of advertising. Notice that during the interview, Urs mentions having no marketing employees which saves the company money and he can pass that savings on to us. Thanks!

Cool interview. Urs mentioned that Uhe doesn't have a sampler "yet". I would just like to say that a Uhe sampler with a simple feature set and streamlined super quick workflow would be very welcome in the VST market. I hope Uhe will be the ones to make an ergonomic, straightforward lightning fast sampler.
