Does KS processing in the frequency domain /FFT spectra realm, or it's like the other 2CAudio products, more like a regular reverb type of effect processor?
Thanks for the compliments.

KS does NOT use FFT. This is actually a large part of the reason the results can sound so strangely natural. Each line is its own separate discrete resonator with it's own perfectly exact tuning, and attack/decay timings... not possible with FFT (unless you were perhaps to get into multi-rate stuff or wavelets but even those tend to sound artifact-y). The uncertainty principal limits the ability to have perfect resolution in both time and frequency with FFT...

KS tends to sound like an actual real instrument, albeit often one that does not exist or is from some alien planet or whatever... but there is something distinctly natural about it, as it is built upon the same principals that real instruments are built upon...

I went full blow mega-nerd :o in the manual (and a lot of leaked onto the web site... :dog: I could not help myself... I like talking about this stuff.... :borg: ) Read the full getting started section of the Manual (a couple times) to understand the differences.

I'll talk about this some more on the web too soonish...

Nice, thanks for the precision and info. Appreciated! Congrats on this amazing tool, really looking forward to try it this weekend. But I can already say though, unless something goes really bad with it it’s almost a done deal!

It's way more behaved in Cubase. Runs nicely now.

Cubase is my personal host of choice just FYI, and therefore may be the most tested of any of them...

Also Sound Forge is AWESOME for stand-alone use.

Sound Forge on OSX using the AU format actually gave the fastest render times of any host I tested so far...

So if you work on Sound Design as a seperate process from actual music production (i.e. you make "lego blocks" as one part of the process, and then later assemble them into a full composition/production as a separate step -- as I often do myself, and I know many high profile people in dance music do based on my experience working with them) running KS in Sound Forge is good option.

But for the Wayfarer ambient examples, I actually started running many instances live inside Cubase. These pieces are entirely KS + B2 or Aether. I had like 16 KS instances and 4-5 of our verbs live for these. But this is likely not going to happen easily on a laptop... KS should normally be rendered, not kept live all day long like a reverb would normally be for example...

Just beginning to get a feel for this, but seems to overlap some with Metasynth. Other than being a realtime plugin, what are key differences?

NOTE: Just installed demo, and when I booted Live it said the plugin was not properly installed - any guess why? I reinstalled, AU and VST show up in proper places, but neither is recognized by Live nor Numerology. I rebooted my Mac, same story....

Doesn't process sound at all to me in Logic X, even when disabling Dry and Wet output I hear the unprocessed signal.

(Have transport playing, but that doesn't help. Btw, where's the option to keep running without transport exactly?
Don't see anything in the Info pane.)

Lot of Wonga...but I do appreciate 2CAudio verbs, will demo for fun. Can't substantiate the cost personally, but I can think of a few people that will definately enjoy this.

Hi all,

seems to be an easy decision - if Simon's in, I am too ;-) In the last years he has proven which synths/tools are worth spending money on - and which of them are supported by additional presets. Just my humble opinion, not a testimonial.

Steven

Trying to run it on Live 9, 10.6.8 (which is not officially supported, but who knows...) - the plug-in does not process the sound with the VST version. And the AU simply does not show up within Live (in spite of the component being visible in the its folder).

It’s not supported in Live on OSX ? :?

Sadly it does not work in Bitwig. :(

I've tried it in both Live and Bitwig. Too many crackles and noises in Bitwig, even though the cpu meter wasn't going that high. In Live it was similar, perhaps a few less crackles.

In both I could only get sound out of about half the presets I tried though. Buffer was about 512 (I'm not going to play any higher than that), and resources folder was assigned.

Seems like some cool stuff. Simon's videos sound nice. But I think it may be a little processor intensive for me (and rather expensive). But good luck with it anyhow!

how to compare this and metasynth. ok this is an effect and metasynth more a tool

It's running pretty smooth for me in S1, which is surprising, since S1 always has CPU issues for me.

Sounds great, by the way.

Not helpful. Metasynth is a tool for affecting sound.....but what are their respective capabilities, strengths and overlaps? Andrew is uniquely qualified to comment, as is Simon.
