X1000 design was funded mainly by a private party (not a Fortune 500 mogul) to be a modern motherboard for use with Amiga OS4.x Nobody (mortals) argues that windows and mac users may see it as 'underpowered' for the OS they use, and Amiga users don't care. There is linux support,
to access apps not available for OS4. It is not the plan to sell X1000, or it's successors,
at Costco and Walmart.

Plenty of people drive $6000 cars they don't care about, and could do just as well
with a $4000 car they don't care about, and spend the difference on a specialty device.
Musicians Friend has 16 keyboard workstations at $2319 to $5499...there are 11 Waves products
from $2200 to $9150. If you build it, they will come. Cash in hand.

At the time they looked so promising.

Just to be clear here, X1000 manufacture was funded by users with pre orders, the design already existed and was just a PowerPC design with a DSP on board (that nobody has really done anything with)

Don't think you are talking to somebody who doesn't follow the scene here haha, a lot of us know the history of companies ripping off Amiga stalwarts.
As far as i am concerned, the only true Amigas nowadays are the FPGA variants

They started with 5 motherboards for beta testers, which went through
various revisions, none of which were cheap. This was not an off-the-shelf relabel party. It's not like five beta-testers could have funded this. (There is a strikingly similarly named project, a true 'commercial off the shelf' product, but it's spelled
x1000 aaeon, not x1000 a-eon, and it's for a far different platform.

The a-eon press release:
"With the production of AmigaOne X1000 Beta test boards in progress,
(a run of 5 boards) A-EON technology is pleased to release schematics of the final revision 2 Nemo motherboard layout. In true "Amiga tradition" the lead designers have added their signatures to the Nemo motherboard. We are also pleased to reveal details of the upgraded XENA subsystem featuring a 500MHz, dual-core XS1-L2 XMOS chip. Please check out the latest images of the revision 2 Nemo and XENA schematics in the Media gallery on the A-EON Technology website."

Pre-order income was appreciated, and reinvested, but none of this
happened without the investor's wallet laying open, and bleeding profusely.
Pre-orders weren't even announced at this time, started a couple months later.

This is an accurate remake of protracker v2.3D. Accurate is an understatement, other than a few features yet to be completed this is so accurate you'll have trouble telling the difference even being an expert.

This allows you to avoid the madness of actually running an amiga computer or dealing with an emulator/virtual machine.

Let the author know how it goes, he's very actively working on this project for the past years. Today he made 5 commits/changes.

Well you are completely wrong, have to assume that you are also a Hyperion believer and the fact that they are now in bankruptcy is no problem too right ?
The X1000 was not off the shelf but was already a reference design that just needed manufacturing, not designing, so like i said, design was not funded by a private party, it was a reference design.
But i am enjoying the new court fun that we have all missed for a couple of years now in miggy land, so i shall leave you to your bananas haha

I was late getting into the Amiga, which I did mostly for 3D software and the Video Toaster. I tried to get into OctaMED and Bars & Pipes, but I was already using Opcode Vision on the Mac and those others just seemed too primitive.

Hyperion's amigaworld.net mods banned me, for continually challenging their
decision making prowess, so no dancing banana's for me

As for being completely wrong, the x1000 money man states it thusly:

"Prior to beginning the development, we assembled a hardware review team which included
Hyperion and key AmigaOS 4 developers. After some intensive research and discussions,
the team drew up a "wish list" specification for the ideal AmigaOS 4 computer."

Eventually we selected a British company with a successful track record in hardware design and production who also had considerable experience with the PowerPC applications and more importantly understood the Amiga. We commissioned them to develop the "Nemo" motherboard for the A1-X1000. We also decided to upgrade the XENA/XMOS subsystem by adding a 500MHz dual core XMOS XS1-L2 chip. Varisys have also added a few hidden “Easter eggs” of their own on the revision 2 board."

(It appears now even the supposed Hyperion bankruptcy is someone's shanked field goal attempt, with bureaucrat folly, and lazy employees snoozing rather than maintaining vigilance, all to be sorted at glacial speed in Belgium's courts (and pubs).
Hyperion being forced to sell to a-eon/amikit on the cheap, would be a great thing,
as far as I am concerned

I first used Sonix back in 87, and remember the interesting waveform drawing feature that it had. Workflow was quicker in Soundtracker though, and when Octalyzer got introduced with it´s 8 channels I went over to that.
I remember later combining Octalyzer with Yamaha DX-9 and an Alesis midiverb reverb, then got a U-20 (which later got the role as motherkeyboard only when I bought a JV 1080) and a midi interface and started working with DR T.
It´s nice to have been through this whole process of gear affordable for consumers getting cheaper and better.
On the other hand, nowadays you could make professionally sounding electronic music at home if you know what you´re doing for free, and you´ll be able to have any thinkable sound in your music.
That can be very overwhelming sometimes, cause it makes it less easy to be satisfied with what you do = you know it can always be better.
With those Tracker things and 8 floppies full of samples, it was all so wonderfully limited and one knew where the limits were and did not have to bother too much with eq´s, compressors, which of 500 synths to choose from (and 10000 presets on each) etc.

MicroSoft gave back the rights to B&P's code to it's author, and he makes it freely available.
B&P will likely run in the free winuae, if you own an amiga ROM file, or the roms are
legally included in the $30 Amiga Forever bootable emulator cd/dvd.

There is also a bootable usbstick, using a Puppy Linux to host the Amiga system,
available from amigakit.
