not at all! im glad you try to help mate!!!! sadly spectrasonics' didnt reply anymore, hope they will in a few hours when it's morning in the US. it still is confing me why omni2 verified the authorization and then wanted to re-authorize.... the file/reg must be wrongly integrated somehow.Voice303 wrote:The other option is maybe finding where the authorization is stored and deleting it... but I don't want to make the situation worse than it already is.Caine123 wrote:my user account in omnisphere or on windows? both have only names with A-Z and 1-9 without any special symbols etc.Voice303 wrote: Try the authorization process as a different user account with only A-Z and 1-9 in the username, I would be surprised if that was the issue but it was for a game I played recently.
You could use a tool like Process Monitor for that on Windows.
My only worry is the authorization is stored in one of the STEAM library database files... I already looked in:
C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Spectrasonics
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Spectrasonics
Didn't see what looked like an authorization in any of those. It could also be in the registry on Windows....
You could also try restoring your old STEAM folder if you made a backup.
Honestly I would probably wait for Spectrasonics to get back to you...
Omnisphere 2 is here! (yes, it's really here!)

On this specifically - this is exactly the position I was in. The good news is that once you get the right downloader link and their servers are up, my install was silky smooth and it fixed the corrupted install automatically.topaz wrote:won't work. it needs the download manager that is in the confirmation email that we did not receive.
we are missing about 20gb of files.
im installed and authorised but omni makes no sound. basically omni is broken right now.
Poor show from spectrasonics.. they are set to make $millions out of this upgrade.. the very least they could of done is make sure they had enough staff/server power to deal with the inevitable.
I agree with Wagtunes and others - it's actually the lack of any public comment at all since 9am yesterday that is the most shocking and damaging, imo. Their support has always been absolutely stupendous and they've always delivered before - this looks like its knocked them for six. But a public comment about it all is very very overdue. I hope that alongside that, the next few days they can deal with all those who have placed orders and have corrupted installs etc asap, and let everyone download everything should ahead of any new servers next week.
I've always assumed the next 12 months would see solid new updates (their new database feels pretty unfinished right now, that would be an early candidate for me, but I mean lots more patches and refinements etc). So it's hard to know what Spectrasonics can give over and above that by way of a "sorry". I think time will heal the wounds personally, it's such an outstanding product the teething problems will get forgotten. Probably some on prinicple will fold their arms and go elsewhere, but that's ultimately their loss.

Didn't Omni 2 ship with 1500 extra new sounds "for free" to start off with?noiseboyuk wrote:I've always assumed the next 12 months would see solid new updates (their new database feels pretty unfinished right now, that would be an early candidate for me, but I mean lots more patches and refinements etc). What really happened is that Apple aquired Spectrasonics during the night

Unfortunately the DL manager is tied to your account's download limit.topaz wrote:Here's hoping some kind soul pms me with a link to the d/l manager.

What you need is someone to upload you the files.... problem is each download of the upgrade will cost 50 cents and that can add up quickly for the person who uploads the files... and also it is probably illegal to do so

An strategy I have seen from video game developers is to let users download content before the launch and just authorize on the day.
18gb of content is quite a bit for a niche product as this.

In this case however their data servers / CDN were performing fine. It was their payment system that choked.rod_zero wrote:An strategy I have seen from video game developers is to let users download content before the launch and just authorize on the day.

Agreed. Eric Persing is pretty active on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ericpersing) and I am surprised he hasn't even said anything there. I can only imagine that things must be pretty bad, and they don't want to say anything until they're 110% sure about a resolution.noiseboyuk wrote: I agree with Wagtunes and others - it's actually the lack of any public comment at all since 9am yesterday that is the most shocking and damaging, imo. Just to close my case:
Omnisphere, Trillian and Stylus RMX are working.
My Studiocomputerwizard came by (on his free day).
Heres how:
The problem was Omnisphere did not recognize the STEAM folder (Windows 7, Cubase 7.5, 64 bit).
A popup came: STEAM Folder not found. Would you like to locate it?
Solution:
rename folder C:ProgramData\Spectrasonics in C:ProgramData\Spectrasonics_old
Attention: I have my Steamfolder on another drive.
I don`t know if this works if you have your Steamfolder also in C:ProgramData\Spectrasonics
Then reinstall everything. C:ProgramData\Spectrasonics should be there.
For Stylus/Trilian I just installed the latest softwareupgrades, not the Steamfolder.
Then you have to authorize everything again. Done.
Cost me another 50€, but it is working:-D
Therefore I am worldwide the man with the most expensive Omnisphere 2 Upgrade

That and they also need to think up a damage control strategy. I wouldn't be surprised if in part of the announcement, when it comes, Eric has some perk to announce as well. I have no idea what it can be but I can almost guarantee it'll be something. It's a common practice for healing wounds when something like this happens.mwalthius wrote:Agreed. One possibility is that he might get one of his third party developers to donate a sound set. Or maybe several developers each donating a small sound set sample free.
That's just one of many possibilities.
Eric is going to have to do something to get the bad taste out of a lot of people's mouths and just getting a functioning download, especially if it takes a long time to do so, is not going to be enough.
We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

and all of this frustration to just save pennies on dollars off creating 3 disks, and boxing em up. i really hope they learned their lesson. digital distribution with large files is hit or miss. this was obviously a big miss.Bladerunner1962 wrote:same with me....(also from Germany)....hopped, to get it yesterday evening...no success...
I'm surprised that Techshop and Spectrasonics is obvouisly surprised with the high traffic!!!???
The was very clear a gap in their rollout planning. They obvouisly underestimated, that nearly each Omnisphere 1
owner like to upgrade at beginning of the rollout..waiting since month/weeks for it..
Ok, this is the one thing....BUT....Why it takes now so long to extend the capacity?
