Hello Vojtech

I'm having issues with the latest MSpectralDynamics in Wavelab.

It only happens if I insert it on a track or clip, but seems to work as expected when used in the master-section. It sounds distorted, almost like some nasty bit reduction is taking place and often results in crash of the program. Hopefully you can figure out what's happening (and solve it  :D )

Hi Mads,

oooh, again the stupid pseudomultitrack in Wavelab...eternal problem :D... I'll check, which version do you have?

I have version 8.0.4

And btw. another thing has puzzled me:
When I save presets and write names in Melda plugins, it's like the keyboard works very bad - quite a few letters won't get typed first time, it feels heavy and unresponsive. It's really strange - have you any idea what can be the reason for that?

Ok, I'll check.
About the keyboard - it depends solely on the host. Some hosts just like to steal keys. And there's the general question - should the plugin or the host accept the keys? Nobody knows... In our plugins you can disable the whole keyboard input from the main plugin window. But if the host doesn't pass (and I'm not surprised damn wavelab does that :D ), then you need to use the virtual keyboard. Or ask Steinberg to finally fire the division which develops Wavelab :D... I don't get it - Cubase is one of the best daws out there, Wavelab is one of the worst, all from the same company... World is a weird place :D.

Wait, I think I remember - there was the problem with sidechains - Wavelab couldn't handle plugins with sidechain in the tracks. Funny thing is it handles it well if on master track :D... I thought it has been solved, but maybe not... Please notify Steinberg if you have a way, I'll check anyway.

Yes please check if you can fix it Vojtech. If there's a clear and obvious problem in Wavelab that you can describe in detail, I can go to the Wavelab forum and post it. That said I usually don't have problems with the plugins I use in Wavelab, even though I'm aware that Wavelab can be problematic at times - but it's also a very nice program to work with :ud: :D

Hmmm, I just checked in Wavelab 8.5.10 and it seems working fine. I'm using VST3 (never use VST2 with Wavelab!!). Can you verify or send me the "montage" that would crash?

I only have 8.0.4 as 8.5 was a paid upgrade, that I didn't jump on. So it may be related to 8 only.
Strange thing that I didn't experience it before. I did use VST3

Just tried again, didn't crash this time but I could get the distorted sound by turning the resolution knob down - the shorter the worse it gets. Try the bass compress preset and tweak from there...

Hmmm, there seems to be problem in general, not in Wavelab! I didn't manage to crash it anyhow, but loading the bass compress preset and playing with the resolution eventually makes crazy distortion sounds and only panic button or playback restart helps. I'll check it out. I'm not sure if it's the same thing though.

I'm not sure it's the same thing either. But trying to reproducing the Wavelab hiccups, which still had some of the same distortion issues, I got no crashes this time. The distortion is prominent in both Wavelab and Reaper here, so that confirm your findings. Looking forward to a fix for that (and cross fingers that it helps the performance in Wavelab too) :D

Hopefully things are progressing as they should - meanwhile I do have a suggestion related to this fine plugin.

I would love if the glorious display form you EQs would used here as well, so both auto-listen and the spectral display would be present, as this would be just as useful here as it is on the EQs - MSpectralDynamics really deserves it :D

MSpectralDynamics fixed, wait for an update ;).

About the ideas - I'm afraid I'm going to say no to this :o, the EQ is there really just as an addition "because it was easy" :D. Since it is freeform, then auto-listen doesn't even make sense and analyser is already there, just well, a dynamic one :).

looking forward to the update - :-))

Regarding my suggestions: I'm not interested in the build in eq as such, just to make that clear.

But I really mean that an autolisten function would be very practical (just as it is on your eq's). Simply engage auto-listen, point the curser inside the spectral window to listen to a bandpass filter, just like it's possible in say MAutoDynamicEQ (what a wonderful EQ).

About the spectral analyzer, sorry I was using the wrong word, I meant Sonogram, that would be wonderful in MSpectraldynamics too...

Please consider (or reconsider) :hyper: :ud: :o :D

Aaaaha, well, I'm afraid I'm going to deny this one Mads, sorry. Technical issues (not impossible, but not worth it).

I see - I can only hope you reconsider later on - until then I'll live with it as it is

Have you any idea when I can expect the new fix will be released?
