do you really think a mastering engineer who graduated from the audio arts is gonna spend weeks trying to fix your poor quality songs just cause the lead is nice or the bass is good???

imo dont ever use a sequencer that doesnt include some kind of import/export to protools if u use nuendo or logic your ok cause they support omf which is alot easier for the mastering engineer...

you guys think that internet downloads make a song great, you think cause some guy who made a song with reason then invested his own money to put in on vinyl gives u some kind of inspiration that u can do it also...if thats what u wanna do do it...

but if your serious about this craft start understanding what the difference between quality and quantity is....

and im not just talking out of my butt i was in the same situation i had decent songs in almost all of the cheap sequencers but when i finally got my foot in the real studio door all my tracks were scrapped due to nothing but poor quality...

get serious or else youll be 40 years old telling your friends u got a record coming out anyday now...

Let's make one thing clear: I don't give a shit for big studios, big productions, big stars in the industry, etc. I know things do not have to be that way, but in current days big studios=MacMusic (like in MacDonalds). So, I hate the "industry", the "system" . And lately I've heard more interesting music here on KVR than I do on the radio: the "industry" music; the establishement music. Not perfect mixes? Still I prefer them. Period!

I take one thing for sure: some home studios may be not that fancy, but can achieve better results than recordings made in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, maybe 90s (and before, of course); some wonderful music was recorded in 2-4 track studios that couldn't reach (or even dream of) the power of most home studios today. And still we loved it...

The botom line, I suspect, is that the technological developement and democratization of unexpensive solutions can turn professionals very unconfortable. We all heard many bad examples of tracks mixing (I did lousy mixes myself, and still do ) but it's mainly a matter of practise, study, talent; and then maybe a good gear can help a little. It's not the gear that makes a professional, you have to have something else...

A real professional is expected to deal with ProTools or Logic, and the lousy starting musicians are expected to meet their standards, gearwise? Surprise, surprise: I suspect that it will happen the other way round And maybe (just maybe) the standard will become the 32 bits wave (?), whatever sequencer produced it.

The rules are changing, my friends...
