While I'm an existing Amplitube user with a decent amount of content, it's completely lame that the only new amps being offered are 5 new Marshalls.
If I were a new customer shopping for an amp sim, I'd be better off starting with Amplitube 3 than Amplitube 4 as I'd be getting a ton of bass amps, guitar amps, and effects right out of the gate. What sense does it make that the prior version is more attractive to new customers than the new one? What sense does it make that amp sims and effects were removed (AT3 included all the AT2 amps+effects)?
Bad move IK. I know you guys want to sell gear in the custom shop, but this just comes off as lame for any new purchaser. There should be at least: 1) one Fender amp (Twin, and perhaps also a bassman), 2) one Vox AC30, 3) one Dual Rectifier, 4) maybe a JC120, and 5) a bass amp in addition to having one or two Marshall's (Plexi and 800). Even if they were AT3 amps, that at least would cover an extremely broad range of tones for a new buyer.
That said: the above doesn't effect me as an existing customer, but I'm still disappointed that the focus was solely on Marshall's here. I already have all the Marshall tones I need covered but what's already out there (particularly the Slash models). I'd much rather have seen a selection of new amps get added.
I may upgrade just because of the cabs, but there were some really poor decisions made around what new amp models and features to include in this update. New Marshall amps only and the one new effect is an acoustic sim (yuck!)? An 8 track DAW? A 4 channel looper? Does IK realize my daw does those latter 2 already? No T-Racks integration? The only good thing about this update seems to be the cab sims.
If I were grading this update I'd give it a C-.

This kinda sums up pretty well my view on the whole thing, yes.

With AmpliTube having been just under $70 a very short time ago, there s no grace period. What you get for that price is an incredible deal when coupled with the very low preorder special on AmpliTube 4.hivkorn wrote:grace period ?

Also, acoustic sim was one of the most-requested items over all time for AmpliTube. YMMV as they say, though.
Note also that the 24 pieces free gear that every IK user has automatically in their account (via AmpliTube Custom Shop) will run in AmpliTube 4 so a new user actually has a pretty good starting point.

I know there are definitely some that are doing that over missing the $69.99 AmpliTube 3 deal, yes.

...unless the new user is not all about Marshalls and wants some more diversity in amp models from the get go.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Note also that the 24 pieces free gear that every IK user has automatically in their account (via AmpliTube Custom Shop) will run in AmpliTube 4 so a new user actually has a pretty good starting point.
Should've been a bit better selection there, not just Marshalls. Hey, I'm not hating, I love me a JCM800, but a BASIC package shouldn't go without a Fender and a VOX as a MUST, and then one of more boutique amp vendors, say a Soldano or a Bogner...

Again, the 24 pieces of gear [edit - from AmpliTube Custom Shop] will work inside AmpliTube 4. There are more than just Marshall-based models in there.EvilDragon wrote:...unless the new user is not all about Marshalls and wants some more diversity in amp models from the get go.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Note also that the 24 pieces free gear that every IK user has automatically in their account (via AmpliTube Custom Shop) will run in AmpliTube 4 so a new user actually has a pretty good starting point.

Just to be absolutely clear:Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Specs are here (no it isn't 64-bit only is the short answer though): http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/am ... t4cs-specsc_voltage wrote:The same questionAloysius wrote:Will it be 64 bit only?
Does
mean that there are 32-bit and 64-bit editions of each of VST, RTAS and AAX? That is 6 plug-ins in all?Supported Plug-in formats: VST, RTAS, AAX (32 and 64-bit).
But, if that is the case, then what does
mean?Note: on 64 bit systems, the plug-in also works in 32 bit compatibility mode.
And does 'VST' mean VST2 only, not VST3? Or is it both (in which case there would be 8 plug-ins in all)?

So no it doesn't come with the gear from AT3 but you can access the 24 pieces of gear from AT3 Free ? Not trying to be difficult.....maybe I'm just being thick but can you just list everything that comes with AT4 ? This isn't for me but for those who are new to AT and just want to know what they are getting in a simple list form. In other words what 24 pieces of gear ? I see a list of gear you can add....for gear credits.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Since it comes with the gear listed above (on that page), the answer is no it does not come with the gear from AmpliTube 3. However, since everybody has Custom Shop, you will have access to the 24 pieces of gear in Custom Shop with AmpliTube 4 (as you will have access to any gear you purchased already).
Ok thanks that's preferable for me anyway to have them run side by side.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:It is a completely new version, it will install alongside AmpliTube 3 (but you will be able to use all of the gear you have from AmpliTube 3 and from any additional purchases/Custom Shop.Teksonik wrote:Another question.....Does AT4 install alongside AT3 or install/replace over AT3 ?

@Teksonik: The gear included is on that page, I mentioned that the AmpliTube Custom Shop current free gear is also included since every IK account comes with that. AmpliTube Custom Shop details about that gear are here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/am ... -shop-gear
But I'll just post the info right here:
