so you get a couple of fender models, but afaik the 'british tube lead' is also a marshall of some sort.

i don't think the new policy is that bad... a lot of people already have at3 or other existing content from all the group buys etc. considering amplitube 3 was something around $249 when it came out with all the models, this is $99 but with speaker switching, putting effects between preamp and amp, the cab mixer, the new tuner, it's basically a lot of new functionality for use with existing amps more than a bunch more amps. many of the old models were superseded by new ones anyways (e.g. the 'american clean 1' has a better equivalent in the Fender pack), so maybe they just didn't want to include inferior models...my guess (or maybe hope :) is that they didn't include them because they're redoing them to use updated modeling. and maybe they'll do a free update or something to get an up-to-date vox later, and that eventually the ones that aren't covered already will come back...

9 Stompbox Models – Chorus, Flanger, Opto Tremolo, Delay, Wah Pedal, Diode Overdrive, Compressor, Graphic EQ, Volume Pedal (can be controlled by external controller)
4 Amplifiers – American Tube Clean 1, American Tube Clean 2, British Tube Lead 1, Solid State Bass Preamp
5 Cabinets – 4x10 Open Vintage, 1x12 Open Vintage, 2x12 Closed Vintage, 4x12 Closed Vintage 1, 1x15 Bass Vintage
3 Microphones – Dynamic 57, Condenser 414, Condenser 87
2 Rack Effects Units – Digital Delay & Parametric EQ
Tuner – Fully chromatic
(note though that for the tuner you'll just use UltraTuner in AT4 so we can call it my lucky number of 23 pieces of gear :) )
Ok there you go. Now anyone here new to AT will know what they are getting (and the 5 new Marshal Amps, acoustic emulator etc) without having to drill down on the IK site........... :tu:

side question: will all the models from AT3 sound exactly the same in AT4, or are the existing models 'updated' somehow when they import into AT4? i remember vaguely that AT3 would let you import AT2 models but they got some improvements. I expect a little bit of difference, just because the cab implementation will be a little different, but not sure what other changes from e.g. the orange pack I should expect with AT4.

Quick compare:

Amplitube 3:
51 Pedalboard effects
31 Amplifiers
46 cabinets
15 mics
17 rack effects
Tune

Amplitube 4:
1 Pedalboard effect*
5 Amplifiers*
5 cabinets*
18 mics*
? rack effects*
Tuner

* plus the stuff that's free for any Joe Schmoe that's listed below:

Amplitube Custom Shop:
9 Stompbox Model
4 Amplifiers
5 Cabinets
3 Microphones (I'm assuming these are already included)
2 Rack Effects Units
Tuner (we've already established this has been replaced)

Sorry, but there's no way to say that's not a HUGE drop off in the value proposition for a new user. It's quantifiably less. It's clear to me that a major goal behind this release was to include less gear for new users in order to sell more gear in the Custom Shop. It's the Gilette razorblade model (we'll give you the razor for nothing, and make money selling blades).

That's a cool question, because they aren't remodeled with the new technology of the five new amps but they will still sound different due to the new cab room changes (mainly) as you pretty much answered within the question. I just wanted to verify this for those with the same question.

Check out the amp itself and the name... I'm sure someone will get it today. :)
Did someone say Pignose?

Of course that's if you only assign value to the gear and not the long list (already posted) of what's included for the low price of AmpliTube 4... Not to mention AmpliTube 3 was quite a bit more expensive (hey, that might have to do with having some more gear, funny that).

Ha. I love the old Pignose, but unfortunately it gets blown away (probably possible to be literally done if you factor in the power of the amp the Red Pig is modeled after... there's another hint for all of you) by the Red Pig.

well, it was worth a shot. I have one of the biggest pignose models they created and put groove tubes in it. It has an external out and can power some cabs.

A note on the "razor blade model" as it is flawed... We're not giving AmpliTube 4 away for free here. You are getting five models - that are as good - for the same price as the five amps in the AmpliTube MESA/Boogie collection plus the acoustic sim (noted already that this was one of the most-requested items), new Cab Room and its own set of great features within, UltraTuner, Looper, improved DAW functionality with more tracks (another major request was to update this area of AmpliTube), and more. People thought AmpliTube MESA/Boogie - even those that had never had AmpliTube before - was an excellent deal, this should be that and more in comparison.

It definitely was worth a shot. I'm surprised nobody has nailed what this one is yet, though.

Hey Peter, is the discounted price ($99) not as cheap as the price we will receive via email? Should we wait for that?

Longtime AmpliTube customers should be on the lookout for a loyalty bonus in their email soon.
I saw A4 and immediately pre-ordered. It didn't give me any loyalty bonus.
Peter, will I be getting a loyalty bonus? I already pre-ordered and I am a long time A3 user.
If you qualify you will receive an email today. Please PM your account username and I'll have someone check. Thanks.
A very long time customer is wondering why no email or loyalty bonus yet ? Hope it's on it's way and it resolves the volume issue that (for some of us) came with Mesa Boogie.

I know it's not quite the razor blade model (technically, that's what the Custom Shop is), but it's not far off. It's been common practice for amp sims to include a variety of amps and basic effects as part of the basic package. You guys went and produced 5 new Marshalls, and 5 new Marshalls alone. Then you created 1 new effect, an acoustic simulator. Sure, there is more to the upgrade, but I'm talking about amps and effects here. Meanwhile, yeah, the "Custom Shop" effects are free, but that's not helping your argument any with me since they're free for everyone and just further validates the razorblade argument.

I'm not saying it's a "rip off" or IK is doing anything wrong even. I happen to think it's a worthwhile upgrade for me personally. But, it's definitely less stuff than AT3, and there's an obvious incentive to send people to the Custom Shop to purchase more models if they so chose to. I don't think you could deny that.

What I am saying is that if I didn't have any amp sims, or was looking to buy another, Amplitube 4 wouldn't be in the running for me just based on the limited included models. I'd look at a more complete package like Guitar Rig, or one of the many other sims out there that offer a variety of sounds from more than just Marshall. I could still download the Custom Shop and get that stuff for free anyway along with any a la carte items I wanted (don't need to spend money on AT4 for that). So I think IK didn't do itself any favors in that regard. You guys took a large and diverse package, made some upgrades, but removed the diversity and along with it, a lot of the appeal. This seems more like "Amplitube Mxrshxll" than "Ampltiube 4."

Wait... so the Amplitube 3 collections do not transfer over into Amplitube 4? No SVX, Orange, or any other individual items I bought in the CS over the past many years?

I only use Amplitube for Bass.. and Amp4 doesn't seem to come with much of anything for Bass..

Were any of the older models enhanced at all??
