Oh and one question I probably missed the answer to over these pages.....when is the expected release date of AT4 ?

AT3 free was nice which included all the free gear, at least 1 new amp would have been nice with AT4...

Also, having a new+old version of the same amp might be a mistake as some are worried already with the new features AT might be getting bloated, very unnecessary to keep old versions...

How much of that extra RAM is due to OS changes since the Pentium 4 was common ? I don't think you could even run Win 7 64 bit on gig of RAM could you ?
Well the spec for AT3 says you needed a minimum of 1GB RAM to run AT3 on Windows® 7. The spec for AT4 says you need a minimum of 4GB RAM to run AT4 on Windows® 7. So I'll stand by my statement. It is a huge increase in RAM requirement.

You will also get the free amps (and other applicable gear - 9 Stomps, 4 Amplifiers, 5 cabinets, 3 mics, 2 rack effects) that are currently included with AmpliTube Custom Shop but not the new amps. You can get those amps & cabs + the great new features + the acoustic sim + UltraTuner for the same price as just the 5 amps & cabs in the AmpliTube MESA/Boogie collection.

Yes, it is possible, but it is strongly not recommended... super sluggish.

That said, I don't know a single PC made in the past 4 years that doesn't support, at minimum, 4 GB of ram.

And 4GB of RAM is around 20-30 USD to operate a 100 USD software. It is a non-issue.

It would be helpful to know when the intro pricing ends. I'm sure many folks would prefer not to tie down funds until absolutely necessary.

Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Sorry I should clarify now with more details available - there will be an AmpliTube 4 CS that is free but it will not contain the new amps, the looper, the acoustic sim, and other features will be limited. It will have the same free gear as current AmpliTube CS does, and you can upgrade to full AmpliTube 4 for the full feature set and new gear.
Ah cool, that makes much more sense.

what _will_ it have (AT4 CS)? i mean, is there any advantage to it over AT3 CS at all, or is it just so that you don't have to continue supporting an older product?

Still haven't got rid of that horrible rusty brown color in the GUI.
How about black? Much better.

So, is the cab room included with the free version, and if not, can that be unlocked separately? If it isn't, what will a free user see for cabinets? Same question regarding the tuner and other features (I'm thinking just in case I don't buy 4 outright, maybe I can get a few of its features piecemeal.

It's non issue for me and I never said it was........I simply pointed out the reason the minimum specs have changed over that time period is not just related to Amplitube..............

Did I miss something ? Last I read Peter said there would not be a free version of AT4....at least not right away.

It would be pretty lame if developers didn't make use of more powerful processors as time goes by. Of course they should optimize as much as possible, but I see no issue with new software requiring more resources.
