Doesn't look like it's for me. I have no need for loopers or an 8 track, and I don't want to pay for things that are irrelevant to me.

With that logic I wouldn't ever buy a car because they all seem to come with cigarette lighters.

Uh-huh. Cigarette lighter chargers can be used to plug things in (at least they used to be). So, the analogy doesn't really hold. If I want to noodle around, I load the A3 standalone, or the Scuffham Amp standalone. If I want to do some overdubbing, I launch my DAW using custom templates for what I want to do. So, why would I want something like this?

I haven't used AT4 by the way, so can't say what it will sound like, but I still think S-Gear > anything IK have done including the Mesa stuff. But, for the price the upgrade is a no brainer for me and I won't use the looper either.

Do you use the tuner? I don't. Do you use the MIDI preset configuration? I don't. I even bypass the cabs in AT3 pretty much universally.

Basically I can't think of any software that I own that doesn't have features I don't use. I'll bet $20 that you stick with a base set of stuff you use with S-Gear also, while ignoring other features.

It doesn't really matter to me if you want AT4 or not, it's just that "I don't need feature x, so it's not for me" ignores feature a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i. And typically, it's the features you DO use that drive value in a product. But call me crazy, lots of people do.

And by the way, it is a great analogy. I don't care what the lighter socket is for. I haven't used one in a car for years and years and have no use for it. So, why am I paying for it in my car? Because the car does a bunch of other shit I find useful.

What happens to the old Marshalls from AT3? Are they carried over into AT4? On that note, assuming so, it would be nice to disable any unused gear--for me, these new Marshalls will render the old ones useless

Am I understating this right: all of the old AT3 amps and FX look, sound, and behave exactly the same in AT4 (no upgraded tones or added features)?

I love S-Gear and you couldn't prise it from my grasp, but the new gear from IK is right up there with it IMHO. Previously, no, but now, yes. I'd all but completely abandoned Amplitube until recently, and if you'd asked me the likelihood of that changing I'd have told you where to go!

I'm thinking the Mesa Triple Recto along with AT4's Cab/Speaker replacement and Mic Placement/Rooms should be pretty cool.........

I didn't read it that way... I read it as if he was saying the differences found in AT4 did not appeal enough to him to buy it.. he has no use for the new features.

The more accurate car analogy would be.. why buy a new 2016 model when the currently owned 2011 model meets your needs?

I'm personally excited about the 3d cabinet features as well as the fact that the new version should be able to capture the harmonic content between the preamp and cabinet. The interaction between the power amp section and cabinet sections seems to be missing in most modelers and in the impulse world. Glad to see IK taking this step forward.

Going by the pics I've seen so far it looks like the looper & 8 track recording is only on the standalone application (I could be wrong) there's already a very basic 4 track recorder on the standalone AT3. SO I see the looper & the 8 track as an upgrade to the recording features already in AT3.

Don't forget that the really big feature in AT4 is the cabinet & room advancements, more mobile mic placement & the ability to swap speakers. Also there's the 5 new amps that are supposedly (like the Mesa Collection which is the best sounding amp collection IK's done so far) a step up from previous offerings. A pity they're all Marshall though. I can't see IK releasing any new amps for AT3 after AT4 comes out, but you can always use the free custom shop version to buy & use new amps if you like.

If AT4 sounds better than AT3, is that not reason enough to upgrade? After all that's the most important thing is it not?

Thank you. This is probably at the heart of my decision. I have what I need, suits me well enough. If I want 'hyper-realism,' I'll just mike one of my amps. I just don't get to do that at 2:00 AM without neighbours coming to my door with pitchforks and torches.

I think I got A3 before there was a 4 track recorder built in. Could be wrong, but as this was my first amp sim program, I probably would've accepted the irrelevant features in favour of having access to acceptable quality amp sims/fx that allowed me to play when I wanted without driving everyone around me nuts. I have that capability now. As I said originally, I may revisit my decision in the future, if I am impressed enough with the improvement in sound quality and there's a sale. €83 is reasonable, I am not quibbling about the price for the pre-order. I went on a tear a couple of years ago buying software instruments and fx plugs, and I find, for myself, that I have more than enough. I am far more conservative with my purchases at this point. Also, I am one of those people whose creativity gets stifled when I am overwhelmed with too many choices. I have a few custom pre-sets in A3 that are quite good that I use for bass and various guitars. Scuffham Amps is very easy to dial in great tones. They don't give you 40 amps, but what they give you is great.

So, to sum up, my needs are covered.

Hey, I have a question for you Peter. I have 61 gear credits, $57 in jam points, but I don't see a way I can use both jam points and gear credits for the same item, online I can't access my gear credits, in the CS I don't see my Jam Points. Can you help?
