I have the Fender collection. It's pretty old.

Me too, and I find it pretty bad. Twins are my favorite amps in real life. I can't for the life of me figure out what they modeled to make that collection. It sort of has that squishy, lots of headroom sound, but setting for setting they sound nothing like real fenders at similar settings. The fact that you can set the volume at 10 and not clip the output is your first indicator that something is wrong .. It should make your computer explode.

Also keep in mind that they could do something similar to the bonus credits thing like they are doing with AT4. Something along the lines of adding credits to your account if you already have the Fender collection when they come out with new Fender models.

Fender was 2009 and the Modeling underneath Mesa is far beyond that. Compare the AT3 Tube Lead AMP in AT3 (2010) to the one in the Mesa Collection released this month.


The real breakthrough came with Slash (2012), but every few years they get it closer. I got the Mesa collection during the intro and it was worth it.

The Fender collection was kind of the preview of the AT3 modeling. Seems like IK has hit a new generation of modeling since then, so remodeling some older amps would make sense. IK did the AC30 twice, they've done a few Marshall Plexis now, the JCM800 3 times (?), same for the boogie amps. They have a long history of improving existing amp models so there's no reason they couldn't or wouldn't do that again.

Days later, I still think making AT4 Marshall amps only is insane. They should have remodeled a variety of amps IMO.

Really? I mainly have amplitude because of the fenders (the twin in particular), which I also used to use in real life. I guess I'm only comparing to the Guitar Rig Twin though, which I find nowhere near as good as amplitude.

Maybe AT 4 is really AT Marshall since those are the only Amps missing from the other recent collections. An official licensing workaround?

If they can improve the Fender collection I would be all for it. The Fender amps are what made me buy into Amplitube in the first place, and they will remain the most important in the collection for what I like to do. I've never been a fan of Mesa Boogie so haven't even demoed those yet. I would like to add the Orange collection. I missed out on last years group buys opting for the T-Racks group buy instead.

I think I got A3 before there was a 4 track recorder built in. Could be wrong, but as this was my first amp sim program, I probably would've accepted the irrelevant features in favour of having access to acceptable quality amp sims/fx that allowed me to play when I wanted without driving everyone around me nuts. I have that capability now. As I said originally, I may revisit my decision in the future, if I am impressed enough with the improvement in sound quality and there's a sale. €83 is reasonable, I am not quibbling about the price for the pre-order. I went on a tear a couple of years ago buying software instruments and fx plugs, and I find, for myself, that I have more than enough. I am far more conservative with my purchases at this point. Also, I am one of those people whose creativity gets stifled when I am overwhelmed with too many choices. I have a few custom pre-sets in A3 that are quite good that I use for bass and various guitars. Scuffham Amps is very easy to dial in great tones. They don't give you 40 amps, but what they give you is great.

So, to sum up, my needs are covered.

Yeah sorry about that. To be totally honest I'm not 100% sure I'll upgrade (knowing me I probably will though) Because I'm using my EVH 5150 III 5W a lot more these days, going through a koch Dummy load, into my DAW with Two notes wall of Sound cab sim. When you A/B amp sims up against the real thing even with a cab sim, the amp sims I have (AT3 & Bias) just can't touch the EVH. You probably wouldn't notice in a mix so much but as a player you just can't beat the tone & feel of the real thing. I must get round to checking out a Kemper to see how that fares.

Up until the Mesa cabs I mostly used cab sims for AT3, the Mesa collection really is a step up & the mesa cabs even sound pretty good with my EVH amp. So I'm thinking the new AT4 cab setup could work really well as a cab sim for my amp too.

Fender was 2009 and the Modeling underneath Mesa is far beyond that. Compare the AT3 Tube Lead AMP in AT3 (2010) to the one in the Mesa Collection released this month.

That model is from AmpliTube 2.

So it's not "2010 tech". It's way older, from 2006.

Now I agree that they should update the current "older" amps, or remodel these along releasing new ones.

Nothing wrong admitting that you did a good model back then, that is still good now, but can still be improved with the latest advancements in your modeling tech.

That said, I'm all in for an "Ampeg SVX mkII" collection.

+1 The MESA collection was very well done, and AT4 looks perfect for use with the wide selections of AT3 stomps. TSEX50II and AT MESA are my top solutions for high gain.

I really like the Orange collection, Rockerverb in particular, Soldano and Engl sound good to me also, but I do agree on the Fenders and Ampeg collection, they are older and could do with a refresh. Some Fender Amps were released after the AT Fender collection, they are in CS but am unsure when or how they were modelled or how they sound.

They are the 57 Champ and the 65 Princeton Reverb.

A remodelled MetalHead would be good, though the Twin Reverb is probably first in line.

Ampeg definitely needs an update. I hope that's high on the priority list.

I was misquoted incorrectly a couple posts above. Anyhow, my complaint about the twin (and the fenders in general) isn't that you can't get somewhere in the neighborhood of a particular tone, but more that dial setting for dial setting they don't act even remotely the same. Again, 10 volume in RL and in the sim are spectacularly different things. I find it very difficult to get a signal chain to create a tone that like in AT3. S-Gear is much easier to use from that perspective. I'm not saying AT3 can't sound great, I just find it more difficult to find those sounds. Drastically more difficult than using a real amp. That may say more about my crappy skills using the sim than the ability of the sim though.
