Again, in case i am wrong, and that hasn't been a joke, Firebird is NOT 64-bit, neither version 1 nor version 2 nor version +, version - or anything. And 32- or 64-bit also never has an influence on sound. :)
The download link had a 64 bit logo near it. I can't remember the install procedure but I assumed, because of the logo, that version 2 give you the option to select 32 or 64 from the installer, and not that the logo just meant it'll work on both 32/64 bit DAWs.

Also, I asked if there was a sonic difference between versions 1 and 2, not specifically if there was a difference between a 32 bit and 64 bit.

You can untwist your knickers now mate.
They're not twisted at all, it just seemed from the way you asked your question, that you thought there was a difference between the sound of a 32-bit and a 64-bit plugin. And i also wrote 2 times before that that Firebird is not available as 64-bit, so i figured it'd be clear by now.

Synth1 or Dexed for overall sound palate possibilities.

TAL makes some great, but more limited free stuff. Anything from u-he is class.

Firebird? Meh.

Yes like scanning your system looking for unauthorized versions of Tone 2 software........Paranoidware. :tu:

They make a nice combination. OXE FM as an alternative.

I think the most important point is that it's possible to put together a pretty killer synth arsenal using just freeware............ :)

It used to......not sure if they ever removed that little "feature". There was discussion about it when Firebird was set free. You might be able to find it with a search.

The Tone2 installers indeed do scan the installation folder (e.g. your vstplugins folder) for existing Tone2 key files and deletes them if they are illegal. this is no secret (it was also mentioned by Bastiaan from Tone2 at KVR in the past...) and this does NOT require an internet connection (a bunch of known illegal key files which are checked for seem to be included with the installers).

Absolutely that's how i start my addiction to subtractive synthesis - combination of a few good free synths can produce even more interesting sound for the ordinary listener than one commercial - for example in the beginning i made combinations between free u-he and angular momentum -it was good sound actually but then i find Firebird and start to use it for everything:)

So I just bought Electra2 and installed it the other week, does this mean I'm assumed to be guilty until proven innocent by the way the Tone2 installers work? So they scan my vst folder for illegal software (only Tone2 products or others too)? I don't use cracks but I don't like the idea of scanning my stuff in the first place. In any case no installers should be able to delete anything from my folders whatever they may be. Does any other developer do this? Pretty intrusive imo. Didn't know this, if true then I'll sell Electra2 this week.

Tone2 still seems doesn't understand that people need friendly attitude - Markus is brilliant programmer but need new guys and ideas in the boat imho :)

Why would it scan for other developer's cracked software? That doesn't make sense at all.
