I wrote ''BEST'' not ''One of the best'' ,because it can be used successfully in any professional studio production if they have right patches ,BUT it seems these days if you don't make EDM you are not interesting - seriously i know guys calling themselves ''DJ'' which makes ''music'' with no idea what is the difference between major and minor ,chord and harmony and even sell songs haha (no offence the ones that know it :)
Lol close. But no distortion in the fx section... So not the BEST lol
I think that is one reason I never call anything the BEST. One gets into big issues with haters that way.

They see a Tone 2 thread rollin'. They be hatin'.

LOL I agree. However, to each his own. What's best for one is obviously going to be different for many. There is something that is said about finding the the right synth that fits with you. It's like finding the right pair of jeans.

Do you remember who was the main programmer/creator of Firebird, was it made inhouse Tone2 or did Tone2 more act as publisher?

Just interested to know for historical reasons

The first version of Firebird seemed to be developed at Tone2 by Markus Feil (now Markus Krause after he married...) and Dr. Hartmut Pfitzinger which both also seemed to have worked on Vanguard at ReFX.
In the latest version 2.1 only Markus is mentioned as the developer (in the credits). Hartmut Pfitzinger is mentioend as one of the preset designers there.

Just for the records:
Kriminal was indeed a tester for Tone2 in the past (AFAIK before i entered testing and sound design there in 2012) but he was removed from the testers and his beta tester account was closed after starting countless rants and/or trolling against Tone2 in the past...

I noticed that. Can someone explain to me what that was all about? Are there different customs in Germany when it comes to marriage and who takes who's name? I'm confused.

Actually there is no real rule about who uses which name. For Markus it was the decison to use the name of his wife. My cousin married too recently and he and his wifw kept their old names (while they wnt to keep teh option to change this later...).

Of course it is also possible to do a double-barelled name which includes both.

Personally while usually i am not very "traditional" and also have not married so far somehow i would prefer the "traditional" way which is to keep the name of the male.

Ah, ok. So it was his choice. That's weird because he had a cool last name before. Why he would want to change it is beyond me. Thanks for clearing it up. It was freaking me out every time I saw it.

Thank you Ingo. Now I'm getting it. It was the culture shock thing. I've literally never seen that before. Now I know that in certain countries you can do that.

Could be like Paul Waakater in A-ha becoming Paul Savoy W. after marriage.

Could also be that Markus liked the name of his wife better than his own.

There are many rather weird german surnames, why didn't soccer star Bastian Schweinsteiger take the name of his wife? His surname litterarly means Pig Pen :hihi:

Good question. :hihi: Actually, better don't ask where that name was coming from, hehehe.

I already had the other Tone2 plugins installed here (all 64-bit) and had re-installed Firebird v2.1 today (usually i preferred Gladiator 2 for using the HCM synthesis method).

The 32-bit VST2 plugin seems to work nicely in Cubase Pro 8.0.30 64-bit, Bitwig Studio 1.1.11 and Reaper 4.78 64-bit (no v5 here yet...) using the built-in bridges. The OS used for the tests here is Windows 10 64-bit.

I think it's a great free synth...if you don't have Gladiator. I do, so every time I open Firebird I end up just closing it back up and opening the latter.

There's KX-Synth-X16 for the elite freebies. It's the best one out there imo.
Ha ha suck it!

False, again....

after Firebird was released (2005/6 ?), i had no contact with them, except when they mailed me to get the update, which i refused. Last year i won Warmverb and was then able to test Saurus (at least i think it was that, i didnt test much as it wasnt very good/interesting). Last time i logged in (whenever that was) it worked fine.

Maybe you need to stop spreading false imformation...its becoming a very bad habit
