Since this is the first topic that comes up with a google about Alchecmy and Windows 10 ;) I am hoping someone can help or point me to where I can go.

I tried to install Alchemy on my new fresh Windows 10 64bit install and Ableton crashes whenever it scans the Alchemy plugin. You get a message from the Alchemy plugin saying it can't find the Alchemy data folder (which is handily in the hidden system folder C:/ProgramData). The only way to point Alchemy to that folder is by unhiding it and even then, after Alchemy says the folder selected is valid, BANG, Ableton crashes and then refuses to load until it has disabled the Alchemy plugin.

Any one else found a solution? Or is this the end of Alchemy on new systems?

Feel free to tell me to post in another forum, but as per standard forum rules, I have searched before posting, and that led me here ;)

Sounds like a UAC problem. Did you try to run Live as an admin user?

Yup, also tried running the Alchemy installer as administrator and tried changing the permissions of the Alchemy folder so it was accessible to all. In all cases it crashed Alchemy.

Since by default the folder should work it seems to be as you say some kinda permissions problem, but I've tried all I can think of to resolve it, but no dice.
