You mean comb filters = physical modeling? Well, to an extent. That's Karplus-Strong. There are other ways to do physmod, but you already know all that - modal synthesis, waveguides, purely calculating differential equations in realtime, or whatnot...

Out of curiosity, would it be some articles that details the different technologies potentially involved in physical modeling ?

also among the instruments from the current market, known to be based on physical modeling ( all applied-acoustics or almost, Reaktor Steampipe and Prizm, Moddart Pianoteq and addons, etc..,eventually hybrid techniques like Truepiano or Samplemodeling products, etc, etc...), what are the ones involved in one case or another ?
