I agree with Vojtech.
My opinion is:
Analogue character came from imperfections from circuits, valves and the like. These imperfections have shaped the sound of the past, that we all know and love. Now we have transparent processors that far surpass them.
I think a lot of people want that old sound mostly for nostalgia reasons or that it sounds professional as in that time only a big budget could afford these setups.
These days I can't see a reason to constantly try to recreate the exact imperfections of the past.
I am a forward thinker and want the most advanced and efficient processors I can. This is why I'm such a huge Melda fan.
In my opinion true artists make new things, not try to make the same things again.

EDIT. NEW THREAD STARTED.

OK, rookie post, first ever.

I feel that the love affair with analogue is due to the fact that many of those users want the slight imperfections that are inherent in circuitry because most plugins don't have the ability to easily modulate parameters in order to mimic the circuitry. Melda plugins do not suffer from those types of shortcomings and so we shake our heads at them and wonder what's with all the nostalgia.

(I realize that I contributed to the tangental hijacking of the thread and I apologize.)

Thanks Vojtech, for some awesome plugins with forward thinking options. I'll continue to make purchases at whatever rate that I can afford and hopefully make use of them in a creative manner worthy of the products themselves.

Svama wrote:Melda stuff is really more complex and could achieve same and better sounding, audio quality, but the problem is I don't know how sometimes. We need more simple go to factory presets. You know your stuff the most Vojtech. Please give us more simple presets for example for your satuaration plugins. Something you can use on every signal. At the end we have to use our ears, but I won't use a plugin where I don't know what this does to my signal. That's a problem I have with your mpolysaturator. How to use it the right way. Where to start?
Not only Vojtech makes the presets. Often times the beta testers do as well (me, too). Maybe I know what you mean, when you say that some presets may be for specific input only, but: as Vojtech wrote: often times it just depends on the input signal. Just try it. Another thing (at least regarding the MMorph presets I made): you could try reading the preset descriptions. Some preset-makers (like me) use the text description and give a hint how to use the preset to have the best result.

If this is not good enough now, at least I will try better next time, while writing the description, hehe! ;) So it's nice to have some feedback regarding this! :)

Oh and nother thing: often times you should not try to use a certain plugin to "scientific". Just play with it and you will get interesting results. ... but yeah ... it depends on what you really want to achieve.

Maybe categories/folders for vocals, guitars, bass, piano and so on would be nice.

I think it depends on the plugin, since some are just good for nearly every kind of sound source. Moreover it would be a bit weird, if we had 5 categories, but just 5 presets, hehe. In MXXX I made different categories, while making the presets though.

That's correct. It depends on the plugin. But some presets have really weird names.

I already said it, some more go to presets would be nice. I'm mixing music and don't make sound design, so I don't need that much special fx, what sometimes could be nice to use. But simple compression presets as starting points for example for piano I'm missing.

You and Vojtech said, it depends on the input signal. But mpolysaturator has no input volume or am I wrong. Or isn't this the point? I'm a little missed with this plugin.

Post

Maybe someone could do some starting presets for mautovolume for different signals, like vocal, bass and so on. It's a simple plugin, but I think I don't get the best out of it by my own.

Post

Well, it really depends on the actual "instance". Not every vocal is the same, not every bass is the same etc...

I understand, therefore we need for examples 10 bass presets, for picking, slapping, fat and so on. All as starting points for sure.

Vojtech would you call your active vocal preset inside mdynamics as a allrounder for vocals or for a specific genre?

And I'm someone who truly appreciate Melda's madness discounts and general fair pricing. I'm an aspiring and very passionate electronic musician and I buy plugins and audio tools before I buy new clothes!
Their discounts makes it possible for me to at least get food on the table :hihi: — and still have the best audio tools at my disposal.

Thank you!!

Svama: I actually didn't make that preset, so I'm not sure. But actually right now, there are bigger plans than some presets :). If you are in the testing group, you'll probably find out soon ;).

Sounds good, but I'm not in the testing team :(

Hope it will be a mixing tool!

Melda trying to private message you...I for sure wouldn't mind being a tester. But I was going to say, why not make popups with mouseovers with your software for help guidelines ? Currently your website is down and I don't have the help file, I have no idea how to work half the stuff because when I mouse over a button it doesn't even tell me what that button does. Your plugins are poised to take over the scene just as soon as you get a better UI and friendlier processing. Besides that, you are the future.
