The complete opposite is actually true, there is simply not enough of Reaper available to WALTER for it to be as useful as it could be, until that happens then we will be stuck with semi themed versions of Reaper.
Yes, Walter was heralded in with a fanfare but is ultimately half-arsed and restrictive. It also seemed to halt theming from a lot of regulars.

Personally I wish Reaper never had this functionality - that way there might have been more concentration on building a great unified UI rather than this constant, endless customising of a very clunky one.

It doesn't really matter anymore, we are in the era of high DPI displays, they either go vector or they make Reapers Bitmap based UI such a huge RAM hog kludge that Reaper will just be unusable, so i expect that it will be vector based soon enough

You may find this more your speed, however, I don't have a problem with removing/changing functionality. If the devs won't do a decent job of it (and they won't) someone else will.

It's not.

Some called for that somewhere?
That's me, 5th from the top. I didn't receive any compensation, nor am I an employee of Cockos or any affiliated company.

I just love how well it suits my needs.

Reaper is amazing.

Reaper fits all my needs...but I also use Ableton Live and sometimes Logic Pro. Right now I'm using Harrison Mixbus 3 and that's very nice to work with.

I'm not 100% happy with Reaper because of a few minor design flaws and MIDI editing is easier in some other DAW's, but Reaper is still my main DAW because it has the most of the features that I need and use regularly and it was TONS cheaper.

I keep studying the pre-releases and bug reports but they never seem to fix the issues that bother me the most.
They are constantly improving Reaper, but it's always features that I never used in 10+ years.

Evaluating Reaper again (better computer now) and it feels very stable. Perhaps best of all, incredibly small footprint when using VSTs. I do feel a bit lost not being able to see the numeric midi values in the piano roll editor. I always have to open a window to see and change the values. Yes, you can do it with the mouse but I'm used to changing things with numeric keys.

You can keep the window open, its contents will change as you select different notes in the roll.
BTW: View / Piano roll notes / Show velocity, note names on notes

It reminds me of Cubase without all the good stuff and the sheen and the cost.. :P

For the price it is amazing, haven't looked at it for years either.

Thanks! Somehow I always closed it. :dog:

BTW i would like the contents of that window to be permanently on top or bottom bar of the MIDI editor.

Me too! Maybe it slows down things?
