Having an up-to-date OS is always a good idea, but on the other hand, I've been in IT for 30 years now so I'm confident enough in my ability to manage a PC. My DAW is stable and every other plugin I have demoed or bought works perfectly. No other plugin I have ever tried has had a reliance on a version of IE or a particular Windows update. I thought it was rather odd that SGA brought that up as a reason why Code Red Free was crashing. Others have crashing issues too so it isn't just me. Perhaps SGA could've said "hmmm, that is strange, let me check the code and see what might be happening here as others are reporting similar issues".

As for iLok2, well, I have a number of soft-iLok plugins so I'm cool with that. And if it needs an iLok dongle, then I'll move on.

Oh well, enough ranting :D

We did exactly that, check foo21345's post with links to posts that address the issue you have reported; different plug-in but the same root cause. The reason why plug-in is crashing is that you do not have the right version of one or more system dlls. To run our plug-ins you need to have the correct system dlls, otherwise you cannot run our plug-ins. The easiest, and probably the safest, way to get the right system dlls is to update windows.

Fair enough, I'm not trying to be awkward or argumentative here, just wondering why none of the other miriad plugins I have are that sensitive to the versions of the Windows system dlls. Like I say, I have a DAW that is rock solid and works perfectly for my needs, so right now I'm not going to update it for the sake of one plugin (that I would like to try as people say it sounds great). To be fair, that's my loss :D

Yeah, that's because I didn't want a refund. After a reboot and clean install it started working. I also updated Reaper so that may have had something to do with it. If I have any more issues I'll surely be in contact.

Since you are using Reaper, you can give the 32 bit version of Code Red Free a go in bridged mode.

I really wanted to love Code Red Free when I first checked it out in Aug or September of last year. It sounds great.

But one problem I had (and still have) in Sonar Platinum (on a Win 7 Pro 64 OS) is that it does not seem to recall my settings after I close, save and reopen the project (all my other plugs do) , or let me save presets.

Also, as I was having stability issues with it in Sonar, I twice sent Shattered Glass Audio this email:

"I've started using Code Red and think it's amazing. However, I've noticed my new DAW (Sonar PLatinum) tends to become a bit crashy when I use it. Someone on the Sonar forum who's experienced the same suggests that version 1.0.4 worked fine in Sonar. I'd like to try. Would you be able to send me a link to version 1.0.4 please?"

That was mid-September. Never got a a reply. Even a polite "no" would have made a better impression on me.

Due to the limited resources we cannot test our plug-ins with all DAWs. Unfortunately, Sonar is one of the DAWs that we don't test our plug-ins with.

We at Shattered Glass Audio take emails from users seriously and try to answer all of them. Having said that, I have checked support and info mail boxes at shatteredglass audio and cannot find your emails either in inbox or deleted folders. Which means your emails never reached us, or less likely was marked as spam and we never saw it.
As for version 1.0.4, there is no link to that version. v1.0.4 was not reporting latency correctly to the host. The latency bug was fixed in v1.0.5, and v1.0.4 was retired.

The emails were sent on 16 Sept and 20 Sept. Both were headed "Code Red 1.0.4 available?‏" I didn't get a delivery failed message for either. Maybe you should check your spam settings?

Anyway, I'd only written those you directly after there was no response from you to my 10 Sept post here

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/posting.p ... &p=6235415

where I wrote "Perhaps the developer might chime in when he or she reads this."

Sorry, did try, but come October, I ran out of ideas about how to contact you.

This plugin is one of my most used ones. I´m still with the free version but will buy the full one for sure - and if it's only to support the great work that has been done. If I want to warm up my tracks this is the one giving me exactly this. I even think that it offers a better sound than the one from Waves.

Absolutely brilliant work!

Ahhh, so your products aren't supported at all on Sonar!

I won't be buying any then unfortunately.

Hang on ... he only says they're not tested on Sonar. (With a different version of Sonar each month, that is a lot of work, given Sonar's small market share (if the poll elsewhere on KVR is to be believed).)

I regret that I personally have problems with it in my version of Sonar platinum (Hopkinton) on my specific setup. But others on the Sonar forum are happy with it. Ask to try the free demo if it's still around first. Despite the problems I've had, it really sounds remarkably great. Give it a shot before you write it off, is my advice.

The knob for the bass of the EQ alone is some sort of game changer for me. I tried a lot of "warmers" within the digital game when it comes to plugins. Code red is my winner for now.

I've got the free version and I really liked it for the short time I've had to try it and would have considered buying this one however not testing for Sonar + not fixing for Sonar = not supported on sonar! - that's what supported means :)

Best warmer I've heard too.

Another nice trick is just engaging the bass-boost switch below the EQ knobs.

I also think it sounds really great with the input set low, and the output set to taste.

By the way, which DAW are you using it in?
