There was a catastrophic HDD failure some months ago and some versions were lost, but i have many of them on my HDD. :)
wow, things are happening so fast :o

OK yeah that would solve it.

Thank you!

I just sent him a PM, asking for his permission.

Also at everyone new to Xhip:
Aciddose works on the synth when he has free time, don't be surprised if you find bugs and quirks, don't expect him to fix ANY bugs you will find, you will have to work around them.
Render it at at least 48000 sample rate, or even better at 88200/96000.
Write down every parameter you set in Route and Effects pages, they will not get through the usual save/load patch process.
Remember that Xhip has a second filter in the shaper section, it is very useful even if you cant modulate it with ADSR and LFO (you can still set it as a target in route page, for example making it key or velocity track).

Another good reason to stay with the release version.

Do not use the alpha version for this stuff. No version of Xhip "supports effects", nor is there a "mod matrix", nor anything else of the like.

The next version will have some small subset of these features but specifically will not have effects. If you are allowed to use effects plug-ins, just use the latest version of the effects instead. There is absolutely no reason to use the effects panel inside the synthesizer because it doesn't have the ability to save anything and is quite simply extremely limited and useless.

I assume you're not allowed to use effects and this is why you'd want to use the alpha version instead. That's called cheating. Don't do that.

(edit: hit edit instead of quote by mistake ...)
aciddose wrote: The "route" panel (not a "mod-matrix") is a far more advanced version of the velocity and bender routing options in the 7.0 version of Xhip. This would be nice if it were released (version 8.0) but it isn't yet. I'm sorry about that.
BTW; "route" works just like automation. It simply overrides by adding or multiplying the value of the parameters. Since you can use automation to do the same things (in REAPER for example you can even use velocity, CCs and etc) the "route" page is also technically useless again because it doesn't actually save anything!

Alpha presets are in a different format incompatible with the 7.0 version. Don't mix these up! The alpha version is only for testing and not for normal use.

Everything the alpha can do can also be done with the 7.0 version... with the exception of aesthetic things like GUI resize. Back then monitors above 1080 resolution were uncommon and the GUI was more than large enough. The resize is nice now that 2k and 4k monitors are more common.

For example try laying multiple instances and panning left/right to create the "stereo width" effect of the alpha unison. This is identical to what the alpha version does, it just creates the additional instances internally!

"Drum mode" can be used to map notes to presets. For example C1 = preset 1, C#1 = preset 2. This can allow you to produce drum sounds and pan+mix them inside a single instance.

The 7.0 version has routing, although it only supports bender and velocity input to a single destination. Since this uses automation however you can accomplish all the same things using additional tools in your host (convert velocity to parameter automation for cutoff, for example.)

These changes are all very small incremental improvements that I've made over the years. The synthesizer is otherwise identical!

OK so it got simpler now if we are talking rules: Use version 7d posted on the main Xhip page.
If external Xhip effects should be allowed that is the decision for bjporter or maybe a vote.

Thx for the clarifications aciddose. All seems pretty workable to me 8) 8)

If people notice any aliasing (when using the waveshaper or audio-rate modulation to extreme amounts for example) I'd recommend you render the final track at something like 192000. This will eliminate most if not all of the aliasing (4x oversample) and other "issues" that can occur.

In the majority of cases however the only real reason I'd recommend 48000 is that I've tuned things in Xhip using 48000 to "as crap as possible without being too crap". In other words it has been adjusted to be as CPU efficient as possible while still producing reasonable quality. If you use 44100 it'll be ever so slightly below what I intended it to be as "minimally acceptable in the majority of cases".

100% subjective though, do whatever you feel is best. Just don't complain about quality if you're using low sample rates like 44100, 22050 or 8000 :)

In almost all cases you'll notice absolutely no difference at all whether you use 44100 or 1000000, it won't matter.

Does this mean that xhip makers do not want us to do this?

It's a joke about HTTP error #402 "Payment Required".

In reality that wasn't the error but the error it actually prints was generated, probably 401 (Unauthorized) or 403 (Forbidden). Something about the caching configuration I have isn't right.

Example: http://xhip.net/temp/ (will always generate 403)

Solution: hit refresh.
