Yes sir, you obviously have a good understanding and read my post and are even minded...so I should listen to you....not.
Actually he did not state it like its an opinion, he stated it like its a fact or an absolute...he said No!!
like its absolute fact, not an opinion.
I simply said for you its not..(in other words in your opinion its not), for others it is, and reminded him that there are hundreds of other opinions as well.
So I am not the one that's against opinions...everyone has an opinion obviously, and yet you you are saying I am against opinions and shouldn't be on this forum...laughable and over the top if you ask me.
Can you read?
bungle wrote: 2 Who makes the most interesting music is based completely on the listeners opinion and what is interesting to you, will not be interesting to others, opinion.
I was saying if someone can create interesting music on their DAW, thats the real test.
Since you seem so eager to correct me without even bothering to try and understand what I was saying..its this.
If someone knows their DAW well has the skills and can create interesting music thats the real test of wether that particular DAW is working well for you, that's the most important thing and its more important than opinions in that sense , and obviously if something works well for you, then you will like it, if not you wont.

If you don't agree with this or try to read another meaning into it, that's your business.
But your answer did remind me of one thing, spend too much time debating or arguing etc.. on forums means spending less time creating and developing your musical skills...so yeah maybe I am in the wrong place in that sense, and maybe you are in the right place.

It looks like a college CS algorithm project ... but how you use it and what it does is cool.

Can Cubase do at least half of the things REAPER can ?
Not really.

Because it will crash at the worst possible moment.
:)
Never had crashing with Cubase that was not due to some plug in conflict or poorly optimized PC.

Also, I do not recall seeing anything in Reaper like the Chord track. Pretty handy compositional tool that has saved me plenty of hours. Where would I find this in Reaper????

Could you also tell me how to use midi FX in Reaper as well. I think that is another thing Reaper lacks as well....at least in V3-V4.

It's not just IF some random DAW can do something, it's also HOW you do it. I'm not advocating for or against a specific DAW in this case. Pretty much every single one I've tried has some way of doing something that I like. And they all have a way of doing something else that I find awful. Then of course you get to the things they can't do.

Same PC, same operating system, same plugins, Cubase = crash fest, REAPER = stable as a rock (Mt. Everest even).
Wouldn't need to switch if it wasn't like that.
It was many years ago, so today it may be different.

IDK what the chord track is, but you can limit note input to scales defined in the scale file, then drag your mouse cursor up or down while holding right alt and lmb - very fast drawing of chords (and arpeggios if you also drag left or right).

You put a MIDI FX plugin on a track and tweak some sliders.
If it is a JS plugin, you can freely edit the plugin from witin REAPER and compile it in a split second - endless possibilities.

Midi FX have been possible in Reaper since forever.

Just the opposite for me. Reaper crashes constantly yet PT 11, Sonar, Cubase run perfectly (PT 11 being the best engine performance).

Chord Track allows you to easily transpose midi (and I think audio but I do not use audio in my projects) to different keys and modes...plus a lot more. Very handy and not in Reaper.

You are right but this must have been added recently as I clearly remember purchasing Fank's MIDI FX only to find they would not work in Reaper.

And Reaper's Score editor? Can't seem to find that either.

Really? How come Frank's MID FX would not work in it? I started in V2 and it soon went to V3; that being when I bought it.

Because they use a very specific format that is only supported by Cubase and Sonar (and only on Windows). However most midi fx plugins don't use that format and work fine in Reaper and other hosts, plus Reaper has it's own built in midi fx as well.
