I didn't offer GUI improvement tips because just about anything would help and the world is full of beautiful GUIs and good designers.
But how about this for a super-simple improvement: eliminate the top left logo entirely, move the envelope controls up there and then you have room to make the modulation table twice as deep. Get rid of the silly block font and redo the knobs so they don;t look like half-melted choc drops.

I suggest to read the manual, there are too many unorthodox approaches in ArcSyn to grasp it all by applying trial and error.

Had some time to demo, it's a very nice synth with lots of character and charm. Demo noise was too frequent imo and subsequently quite annoying, I purchased anyways because I was quickly convinced and had the money spare - but if I was on the fence or needed time to be seduced by the sound, or it would have been a while until i'd have the purchase price available, the noise would have deterred me from spending too much time demoing and possibly cost you a sale.
ymmv
there are some other quirks and foibles I think could be improved, but was happy to purchase in its current state.

Thanks for the updates Steve.
I think what you are referring to is that the mod matrix is never fully visible only allowing to view 8 rows at a time.
fceramic's post on page 9 of this thread includes a mock up layout which has the two blocks of 8 modulation slots at the bottom of the GUI. Makes sense to me, as you keep all the modulation stuff at the bottom of the GUI

I think what you are referring to is that the mod matrix is never fully visible only allowing to view 8 rows at a time. Why not split the 16 rows of the modulation matrix into two blocks of 8, put one block of 8 in the place of the logo and keep the other one where it is now. You keep the modulation matrix at the top of the GUI and the lfo and envelopes together at the bottom of the GUI. I did mention this earlier in this thread but not had a lot of response - the developer wasn't sure if more than 8 slots were really going to get much use.
In terms of layout, what would be ideal in my opinion would be to put the logo in the top centre, where the preset browser is - the preset browser doesn't need to occupy this much real estate IMO. Reduce the preset browser in size, and put it just above/below the other preset functions (Save, Init, Random). Then I would put the LFO and Envelope sections at the top ... where the Logo was, and where the Mod Matrix currently is. And where the lfo/env sections once were - I would put 8 rows of mod matrix each.

10 seconds in apple preview, but...better (for me, anyway). am NOT a graphics person!

It's cool to see how a dark horse outsider synth can catch the imagination of the synth heads

it surprised me. am busy removing synths from my setup, trying to simplify, minimize. that's been working out really well. but arcsyn is...just is different enough, distinct enough, to warrant owning/using.Numanoid wrote:It's cool to see how a dark horse outsider synth can catch the imagination of the synth heads
am looking forward to torturing it over the weekend, see what mayhem & mischief i can get into...

One thing I left out of the mockup was moving the patch buttons to the top centre next to the patch window and then move the filter section down.fmr wrote:This layout would get my vote anytimehesnotthemessiah wrote: fceramic's post on page 9 of this thread includes a mock up layout which has the two blocks of 8 modulation slots at the bottom of the GUI.
