That's what I like about itUrs wrote:I don't know the Syrinx, but trust me, the Crumar is too weird. The signal flow must have been thought out by The Riddler himself.NerdMcBoon wrote:If I could wish for one emulation, it would probably be the Synton Syrinx!
It differs at least a little bit from the usual saw/pulse -> LP filter -> amp structure and seems like a really interesting synth in general.
The Crumar Spirit would also be nice, for the same reasons.
Here is a nice little demo with some random facts about the Syrinx:
The signal flow is somewhat similar to the Crumar Spirit.
Anyway, I'm only suggesting these half seriously. It's probably much more desirable to emulate some classics first.

Hehehe... buy me one and I'm all in!nilhartman wrote:What about a ReThacon? ^^
Sorry, couldn't resist adding it to the ever-expanding pile of suggestions hehe.
They're currently in the same league of "boutique" as EMS Synthis and CS-80s.

The most likely (by far) candidate for a RePro beyond the Pro One is a Prodigy, somewhat closely followed by an OB-1/SEM and one of the Korg 700/800/770 series. The Arp has been done nicely by our friends at GForce, I'm not entirely sure why we would do it other than for the sake of the pun.
That said, with all that's going on it might be wise to stick to the Pro One for this year and see if we wish to do more next year / post-Z3. Or maybe let idle developers (other than myself) work these projects on the side.

Let's ask Aphex Twin to lend his...
Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'll be delighted by whatever you come up with, really.
And no matter the GAS, there's no rush. I've been (almost) exclusively relying on Diva and Bazile since their respective releases and am still discovering tons of new things daily using them. And I've already planned to buy Z3... and RePro... and your drumsynth

I remember when they went for about £150...Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Look, RePro-1 is already killing the secondhand prices of Pro-One's. Here's a guy 30 minutes from me, just outside of NYC, selling a working original for $800.

The Oddity was good for its day and the relatively slow cpu's available then, but the audio rate modulation leaves much to be desired, and no doubt the filter could be more accurately modelled. The ability to choose from different filter revisions would be a nice feature, too.Urs wrote:nilhartman wrote:The Arp has been done nicely by our friends at GForce

The "new" version of Oddity actually allows switching between different filter models: http://www.gforcesoftware.com/products/oddity2hakey wrote:The Oddity was good for its day and the relatively slow cpu's available then, but the audio rate modulation leaves much to be desired, and no doubt the filter could be more accurately modelled. As I never tried it, I have no idea how accurate the emulations are or how good it sounds in general, though.

I missed that. The old version sounded a lot like the Odyssey I had at the time, that is, until I tried audio rate mod where it fell apart. I wonder whether they improved that, too? [/OT]

RePro-DG = Prodigy (yes please!!!)david.beholder wrote:* possibly more emulations (RePro-DG/DC/Bee)
RePro-DC = ?
RePro-Bee = I was thinking this was a WASP, but now I'm thinking it's the OB-1 based on Urs' comment above

Gforce have wonderful products: minimonsta, m-tron pro and virtual string machine are all among my favorite software instruments. I can't speak to the accuracy of their synth emulations, I just know i really dig their sound (minimonsta and oddity2, though I know the imposcar is rather popular as well) and find myself coming back to them again and again.
can't wait to start testing out the ReProOne tomorrow !!

+1 on both the quality of GForce plugs, and the folks who work there. yeah, they really got the whole feel of the Odyssey down pat. but i got to say, when i first got Diva, i found that playing around with the ring mod on the "Dual VOC Eco", coupled with the "ladder" filter, i could really dial in the duophonics of the original gold faced Arp. the layout of the Oddity makes it more useful for experimenting, but, man, that U-he filter!

You can modulate pretty much any of their parameters with Odyssey 2. It's a crazy nice synth, plus polyphonic now.hakey wrote:I missed that. I've never had an Odyssey, so I can't speak to how well it emulates, but it's a great little soft synth.

maybe the cheap yamaha cs01 mkII is worth having a look at. not for a straight emulation...but maybe something about it could be useful to include in future products.
very punchy sound.
pea hix (btw the same guy who made the pro-one yazoo demos) has many yamaha cs01 mkII demos . especially the Depeche ones really impressive. the 24db filter seems really something . squely and piercing but in a pleasent manner. punchy as hell. zaps like lightening sparks.
https://soundcloud.com/peahix/sets/depe ... aha-cs01ii
worth checking also the other demos he has of the cs01mkII sequenced with the SQ1.
