The issue with Fruity Loops are, well, loops. It is based on loops and encourages to work with loops, which leads to mechanical 4/4 productions. Everything else must be enforced artificially.
Of course you don't need to have weird tempo variations in every dance track, but organic off-the-grid percussion can add some subtlety to 4/4 bagners.

I have happily made 5/8, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, 11/8, and 13/8 tracks in FL, and several "gridless" ambient tracks as well. It lends itself to certain types of music because it was designed to make that music easy, but it's really not hard to break out of the suggested template.

you can create any music genre in FL Studio, be it 3/4 or 6/8 and of course any piece of music is made of phrases... there is absolutely no limitation... some basic music theory will help you see that... oh boy

Fl Studio has long winded ways of accomplishing simple jobs that are done much easier with most other traditional DAWs. On the flip side it allows for getting ideas down pretty quickly. There's yin and yang with every DAW.

I find the whole 'EDM' thing really bizarre tbh. Dance music has always been around in countless forms and it will always be around in countless forms.
The 'EDM' sound is a razor thin slice of the dance music scene, despite the arrogance of the all-encompassing genre name (I honestly thought nothing would ever top IDM there). For every EDM gig with a thousand people staring at the light show on stage as though they're at a f**king stadium rock concert, there are hundreds of thousands of people at proper clubs across the world raving it up to... well... countless forms of dance music.
FWIW, pretty much everyone I know is using either Live or FL. I was briefly involved with a small record label in London that put out whatever dance music sounds caught our ears - 5 of the 6 artists we pressed to vinyl used FL, and all were making stuff that sounded nothing like the other - from limiter bothering noisy hip-hop sludge to ravey grime music, and all the wonderful, countless forms of dance music inbetween.

No worries. I'll hold off on providing a list. As I alluded to they've already gave indications that they will address things that fall into the basket I'm referring to at some point.
