Is there a way to have reaper scan projects to search for certain vst's? For instance i have some projects that use CWITEC Tx16wx for drums but i want to replace it with Geist since Tx16wx can be a bit buggy and not as easy to use as geist. Thanks in advance

Nope, but you can search within .RPP files themselves for TX16WX text using any better text editor. Then you'd know which projects of yours have TX16WX loaded as a plugin.

If you right-click on the effect it also gives you the option to replace the plug-in "in place" which will maintain routing and so on, although I'm not sure if it'll do anything more. Two different plug-ins are very likely to be completely incompatible as far as presets/states go.
Also see View->Project Media / FX Bay (ctrl - B)
Hit the "FX" tab and you can filter the plug-ins with a search string, although you'll still need to do this for each project after it has been loaded.

Free plug-ins for Windows, MacOS and Linux. Xhip Synthesizer v8.0 and Xhip Effects Bundle v6.7.

Or just remove / uninstall TX16Wx. Then, when you load a project that used it, you can just delete it from the project and load Geist. No need to go through them all.
PS Please report the TX16Wx bugs in the CWI Tec forum, to help out us who will still use it
