Damn it, I didn't want to comment...

Well, if it would be anything like/similar to Scream 4 from Reason, then my interest would be there.

HOWEVER...

Even with my JamPoints and the recent "free" 20 (or was it 25?!) Gear Credits, I'm pretty much sure that I can ignore any discount as I can not mix Gear Credits with a regular sale, neither can I add JamPoints on top of that... So... no discount for me at all, meaning I do pay 96USD incl. VAT. Which makes this thing out of my price range.

I can live with that.

Do I get a prize for guessing correctly before the announcement? :)
:) You get a good old-fashioned pat on the back.

The handles do not look robust for me. They may come off quickly while swapping from one daw to another...

It has nothing to do with "A Clockwork Orange" or 90125, those were the first two things that came to mind for some...
has this got the same algo as the 73 & 81 eq?

There are enough alternatives.. We talking about nuances or? :D
Well.. yes and no. I really like how well they keep the mids and high-mids from getting congested. Actually this lack of annoying stuff in the 2 to 4kHz region is very similar to SDRR. If they can get this kind of proper high-mids in Saturator X then why on earth can't they nail the guitar amps in Amplitube? A different DSP guru behind this plugin? New technology/technique?

I suspect the research that went into that Lurssen mastering plugin thing has paid off and will slowly trickle down in the form of improved plugins. I think most modes in Saturator X sounds impressive and feel like they all could be thoroughly useful, at both low input levels and at high levels. I'm also extremely relieved that they didn't model any noise floor.. or at the very least they have some intelligent noise-gate thing going on.

Only oddity I found so far was the transformer (though both models sound awesome and "weighty"). I'm not entirely sure why you can't drive the transformers into oblivion but it's probably just my lack of understanding how an actual transformer works. On real equipment I suspect I've just driven the secondary components into distortion rather than the actual transformer itself.

I'm also not completely

Anyhow, these are only some early test results done at home.. I'll have a closer look at the plugin tomorrow in a proper studio environment. So far though I'm thoroughly impressed.

Unless Peter says otherwise, I don't see why not:

I go in to Custom Shop and I see SaturatorX for 80 credits.

I have 30 credits on account, so I need to buy 50 credits.

I go in to the online store and I can buy 50 credits for €50 less 30 jam points which is €35 plus VAT which is €42.

I go back in to Custom Shop and I now have the 80 credits I need to buy this plugin.

(The last two steps are hypothetical, I haven't actually tried this!).

The whole jampoint/credit thing is somewhat confusing but my logic seems sound. I'll try this plugin at the weekend and if the above is possible... why, I might even buy it :D

Your logic is sound except that you can apply 15 JamPoints (30%) which looks like a typo since your math is correct in the end :) Also, you can simplify by staying in Custom Shop and redeeming your JamPoints toward the Gear Credits you need right there during checkout.

Post

You can only use jam points for 30% of total price.
So $49.99 will cost around $35 then you can use your 30 credits.

Oooops. Peter beat me to it.

I don't think so but I will check.

All good and fine, but:
a) complicated
b) half of that is not possible (I know the IKM system all too well at this point)
c) I am not(!!!) going the Gear Credits Route - because: prohibited of resale - still not supporting "Gear Credits" - sorry.

Also - my Q was not answered either if this would even come close to Reason's SCREAM 4
