Which leaves the ones that require endangered parts to run, or those which are a tad odd and obscure. That said, we have a nice range of monosynths of which we have at least two specimen. Those are the ones we might want to tackle. Two of these create a lot of glow in our eyes, even though they are not very well known.
However. price, scaleability and presets support on this new reissues is in range from bad to none and there are few, really few replacements of good hw synths in sw.

Minimoogs and some Rolands are emulated very well, but there are no proper emulation of SEM exists yet. And SEM replica cost like $1k altho it's not obscure or rare, just not emulated properly.
Not the Roland JD-800 at any rate. I adore that 90's synth, and can't figure out for life of me why there hasn't been any kind of plugin for it at all by any developer by 2016 :?.

Korg has released there classic M1, Wavestation and other classic synths in plugin form. Synth1 beautifully captures a Nord Lead, even though it's not quite as realistic as I'm sure u-he or someone else can pull if off (though it sounds amazing for an freebie by an indie creator!), and there are average/meh Kontakt libraries for the Ensoniqs , and that classic Yamaha TX81Z. But darn, there's not even a plugin for that JD and It blows my mind .

As a former owner of the 990 I would love to see a proper JD emulation! :)

I never saw the Korg Trident being emulated. For a while back in the 80's I also had an Yamaha CS-15. I never saw that being emulated either. Then there were some synths that are questionable if they should be emulated. I am thinking about Korg Poly 800 :clown: and similar
Win 10 -64bit, CPU i7-7700K, 32Gb, Focusrite 2i2, FL-studio 20, Studio One 4, Reason 10

Yes and yes! the Triton is another one! Mininova, Roland D-50, Akai S5000 sampler...

I adore the sound of the 90's, and there's still a slew of keyboards and modules that are waiting for a proper emulation ^^.

The good news is that, by 2016, software has gotten so good that it's realistically possible to create lush plugins that could actually replace the expensive hardware. It's really about being patient and hoping a developer will try :).

Any synth that uses samples is going to be a big problem to make in software, unless its by the original company/owner

What he said ^

A sampler plugin dev had to withdraw a commercial JD800 instrument, last year if I remember correctly.

So it's Rolands way or no way.

Ugh, that would be upsetting :/.

The JD doesn't use samples though. It's a digital synth with ROM-based waveforms.

JD does use samples. Be not mistaken.

Now I'm confused. Doesn't "samples" here refer to ROM-based waveforms. The waveforms in question are the result of sampling.

Precisely.

Haha, I learned something new today!

A shame! I guess it'll be up to Roland someday if they're ever interested.

Are you sure they are not generated single cycle wavetables?
Murderous duck!

Positive, they're all multisampled keymaps. Looped, companded so that they fit into the tiny megabytes of memory that they had at the time.

Looks like steinberg is killing 32-bit plugins.

I think it makes idea of 64-bit only RePro-1 absolutely fitting time.

I don't think it matters in the long run. Steinberg is not the only company making DAWs... so it's still viable for developers to make 32-bit versions of their plugins...
