My setup is as follows:

AMD XP2500+ barton CPU, 1.5GB DDR400 RAM, 60GB HDD, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 2in/2out card.

Yamaha RXV450 amplifier/receiver connected to a PureAcoustics AL500 theatre package.

M-Audio Pro-88 keyboard controller, sustain pedal, Behringer MIC200 mic preamp, Behringer B1 studio mic.

Hypersonic VSTi, Garritan Personal Orchestra, 500 or so soundfont banks, sfz, plan to get KnzAudio MIDIFIER and Tracktion and Goldwave soon.

Also plan to get a Canon i865 printer down the track (prints direct to CD/DVD RW discs) and a stack of CDs and some liquid laminate for a nice lustrous scratch-resistant finish to my printed CDs.

How does that sound?[/b]

Cheap but functional, relatively mobile set-up, computer effects can still make it shine!

- mini laptop (HP Centrino 1.5Mhz, 12')
- ESI U24 USB soundcard, 48/24, A/D,D/A, no MIDI, great dynamics but bad drivers (samplerate issues),
- mic is PG58 (cheaper version of SM, not much worse),
- pre-amp and mixing through Behringer UB502 (cheap as chips, clean sounding, cause I need only one input and monitoring control),
- custom electric guitar with two vintage pick-ups, gloomy sounding
- inserted into Behringer mix/pre via Behringer DI100 direct input box. Again, clean sound response, sturdy looking, does the job.
- EDIROL PCR-30 midi keyboard for effects control and input, 4 octaves of quality keys, enough control knobs (was advertised as portable, but is quite large acctually, so Edirol introduced the smaller PCR-1 recently).
- Zoom RT 123 drum machine (very good real drum source, already panned and treated rigs).
- monitoring headphones AKG 141M (600ohm impedance, natural sound)

Synths are software, effects also, recording too.

Thats it, can put it all in a hiking sack, (the tall one  )
