Hm, v0.86 still distorted sound with formant effect. Also the synth crashes if I replace an helm instrument slot with another helm, so there must be kind of memory leak that crashes the daw if instance is quickly destroyed and created again.

My entry for the month; arp-heavy and ambient, but most repeating patterns recorded--at least in part--by hand. Funny how things keep running 'round and 'round in my head.
EDIT: Whoops! 17 tracks and 15 instances of Helm AU, effects from Helm, excepting built-in Delay, Reverb, Compressor, and Glue Compressor from Ableton Live.

My OSC 90 entry "Unts Unts in E minor"
I used only 5 instances. Any more and my computer would crash.
The FLP file is at: (76 Unts Unts in E Minor.zip)
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing
Else the project uses few instances of flstudio limiter and effector as reverb.

Most of us layer kick sounds, thus using multiple tracks to get a single kick. Personally, I have at least two tracks dedicated to most any kick I do, sometimes three or four, depending on the circumstance.Darksynth FX wrote:Some tips for a decent kick drum? In the case of Helm, I have a track with a single square wave oscillator, a sharp, short-delay envelope with no sustain and a bit of release, a low-pass filter with a bit of resonance at around 50Hz, and a sharp, short Mod-envelope that raises the pitch of the OSC just a bit on attack. This track generates the "boom" and ring of the kick.
For a bit of snap, I have another track with similar settings, but with a narrow (high Q) bandpass filter set to pick up the initial attack "snap."
You can fool around with this basic setup to get everything from a subsonic ring to a sharp report, and mix and match as you see fit.

Here is a kick to start with. I also cannot not share a unique preset that was possible to create for this incredible VST. LFO2 is assigned to CC02 - Breath controller.Darksynth FX wrote:Some tips for a decent kick drum? The presets are meh and I have difficulties designing my own!
Sounds best in the middle register

Tried left clicking the letter left above "FREQUENCY" ?Guenon wrote: A quick question: the LFOs are free running even when their cycles are tempo synced, is there a way to retrigger/sync them per note (or sync them to song position) ?

First and foremost: this is a must read: Synth Secrets
No more available on soundonsound.com but it's here -> https://github.com/micjamking/synth-sec ... /README.md
Also in epub https://github.com/Nioub/synth-secrets/ ... crets.epub

Here's my 'recipe', which I actually stole from this kick drum synth.
https://www.hintonandfairchild.co.uk/pr ... ynth-v1-2/
- I make 3 layers:
- A sub, that's the one you should feel in your stomach
I use a sine wave with a quick pitch envelope high to low. - A body, that's the one you hits you in your chest.
I use a noise wave with a quick filter sweep high to low.
Play with resonance and envelope depth.
EQ of all the high end you don't want. - A transient, that's the smack from the beater to the head to the drum.
Just a small noise chirp, keep this low.
Apply compression and EQ.
Some nice 'recipes' on EQ and compression
