Since you say you've got Tracktion installed on drive D, I can't help wondering if the preset path is hard-coded into the plugin to look at drive C.

The plugin itself is installed in
c:/program files/tracktion/plugins/3rd party/

and the presets are in
c:/program files/tracktion/plugins/3rd party/Final Mix Presets/Factory Presets -and- c:/program files/tracktion/plugins/3rd party/Final Mix Presets/User Presets

You could try copying these folders from your D drive to C drive to see if it's the plugin looking in a fixed place ... ? Even if that's not ultimately the best solution, it might be enough for you to at least be able to audition the presets for now.

Had all these problems too at first. Factory presets folder looked empty, and couldn't 'scroll' down different presets in FM (where the small arrows are beside preset name). Solution: click on menu button > click on 'load final mix' from options > viola: all presets listed.

You can then move up / down the preset list too with the arrows (at least on either 'memA' or 'B' selected - if it doesn'w work on one it works on the other).

Can only get a few of these presets to sound good though (the more generic ones - 'mix down' etc.)Vox ones not too good, even in tracks. I suppose I need to re-eq them (but should that be necessary if this is the 'final mix'?)

No doubt my own major limitations

had the 'no presets' problem too. restarting tracktion fixed it, thanks cmm.

Good for you...the 50 odd presets really showcase Final Mix. 8)

I'd guessed that might be so and already tried that but it didn't work either.

I still think it might be related to having Tracktion on the D drive though in some way.

Tried that too I'm afraid. They load individually of course but the scroll arrows don't work.

Well I've tried every which way with these presets and have got nowhere ... until just now. Perhaps this will work for others. I looked at the properties box for the final mix presets folder and changed it from read-only. On re-starting the plugin I loaded a preset using the load final mix option on the menu and thereafter you can use the scroll function on the plugin! Progress.

Thanks for advices.

That's interesting - why would your folder be set to read only? My wasn't - some of it was set to archive. That shouldn't have happened if the install was working right.

Post

I've tried registering on the Tracktion support forum to ask there but it seems to be taking ages to get posting rights even though I've registered OK. It would be nice to resolve this problem somehow.

For the record, I can't get presets to work either (E: drive)

Post

I still can't access the support forum - I thought Tracktion support was usually good - right now I could do with some.

I found the presets fine, but when I save a project with a particular preset, when I open the project back up, Final Mix is not set at that preset. I have to scroll through again.

there's a mam A and mem B. I've found that if the scroll arrows don't work with one selected, it'll work with the other. Not much help anyway, as it only moves down the present list one at a time. Much more useful to see all of them at once.

the 'read only' file seems to be the issue. should bean archive i think.

OK, I had the same problem, and after trying everything on this thread twice, it started to work.

To be honest, I'm not impressed with the sound of this plugin; it's harsh and it distorts easily. I wouldn't pay for it. I'm hoping some of the presets will show me its hidden qualities. Off I go.

So far I have to agree with you - I've messed about with the presets for 30 minutes, which I admit is hardly doing it justice, but I cannot hear what all the fuss is about. Let alone $399 or whatever. I was hoping for soemthing like T-Racks which I have demo'd but so far,it seems that Final Mix is worth precisely what I paid for it!
