I have Pianoteq Pro with almost all addons but I still find this interesting as an Omnisphere owner, not so much for realistic keyboards (I prefer Pianoteq there) but for the ability to add some decent keyboard sounds into Omnisphere and design new sounds based on layering those with Omnisphere samples, as well as using them in the granular engine etc. Lots of new possibilities. The downside is the price though and I don't at the moment have that sort of space on my SSD either so I won't be buying it immediately, but may at some point.
I do like the idea of being able to buy just some of the modules though separately, don't need a comprehensive collection so much.

Vienna Imperial Grand is USD$500 and is only one piano.wagtunes wrote: If it was an Omni add for $199, sure. But at $400? Forget it. I don't need a bunch of pianos that badly.
Maybe $400 for many keyboards at a high level of detail is not so bad.
This likely appeals to studio owners and working professionals who want an excuse to auction off their space-devouring / slowly crumbling workhorses from the decades past. $400 for this excuse is maybe very affordable for them.

Personally I would be surprised if they gave a VIP discount on this, but if they did I may be tempted. For $400 though, it's too rich for my blood since I would only have use for only around 25% of the material. I don't use too many Clavs and ancient Electric Pianos in my New Age or Soundtrack music.

I'm happy for Spectrasonics. This instrument is ambitious and preserving some of these keyboards is very noble. It is clearly a labor of love and I believe a lot of great players will benefit from and make use of it.
I'm also disappointed that it isn't more in my wheelhouse. I'm disappointed that it has diverted Spectrasonics' resources from some more innovative and less well trodden pursuit.
I hope it sells well and, as always, I look forward to whatever they've got developing.

Thanks. That is pretty clear. I don't know how I overlooked that. I must have done a quick scan of the FAQ.noiseboyuk wrote:It's there in the FAQ on the product page:iPlogger wrote:No real indication as to what the 30GB version offers.
The "Lite" installation includes a small collection of models that uses only 30 GB of drive space – perfect for live rigs. You will find sounds created using the following:
Hohner Clavinet C
JD-800 Crystal Rhodes
LA Custom C7 Grand Piano
MK-80 Contemporary Rhodes
MKS-20 E Piano
MKS-20 Electric Grand
MKS-20 Vibes
Rhodes - Classic Mark I
Rhodes - LA Custom “E”

That was my thought exactly. Am I a little disappointed that it wasn't some ground breaking, mind blowing thingamajig? Yeah kind of. Having said that, this seems like an awesome product for all of those "keys" aficionados out there and let's face it, Spectrasonics is a very high quality brand, so it's safe to say that $400.00 dollars for this product is actually a great value. Many will enjoy this great plugin.Zookes wrote:Maybe $400 for many keyboards at a high level of detail is not so bad.

No, I was just thinking if their synth head base doesn't buy Keyscape then they are no longer VIPs. So when the RMX replacement hits that everyone wants, the non-Keyscape former VIPs will be paying full price.macmuse wrote:gremlinmoon wrote:

Did they say they are ditching the VIP discount?

gonna have to be one heck of a VIP discount for me to buy this. Not saying I don't want it but for me $400 is way too much for something that won't get much use.

I also think this was a good way for them to ditch the VIP discount. At some point they figured out they were leaving a lot of money on the table because it is exactly those same hardcore fans who will pay full price.
Cause you know.... you need the keys, good weighted keys no the half baked Fatar weighted action.

Whether you decide to acquire Keyscape or not, sort of boils down to a two questions ... is a "natural sources" important in your main productions and do you think Keyscape is enough of a difference from your existing keyboard library to justify the cost?
If you cannot answer YES to the first question it really doesn't matter what Keyscape is or is not to omnisphere; it offers something of little interest. I think Keyscape is entering a market already stuffed with good sampled pianos, and if somebody cares about their sonic choices, they already have a good number of those pianos.
So for me the answers are Yes to 1 and No to 2. Sorry Spectrasonics, not this time.

Ok. So I won't be needing this product. Too many keys. But many sound awesome. Not innovative or groundbreaking. It's just...convenient and high quality.
If the VIP discount is $100, bringing it to $299, I would be very tempted to purchase.
If the VIP discount is a measly $50 (which is not even a VIP discount considering some web stores will probably sell at or nearly at $50 off MSRP; like they did with Omnisphere 2) then it's just a smack in the face to their VIP customers. Would be very turned off and probably not purchase.

At the not inconsiderable risk of setting off a new wave of outrage among the outraged, I read elsewhere that Spectrasonics have said no VIP discount here - VIP discounts only apply to upgrades, not new products.

At the end i find it maybe more interesting than all this software emulations of old vintage synths.
There are also no innovations for me.
Developers need more "own" ideas.
But maybe too much people are scared for the future

Sounds are indeed impressive. But who is it for? Probably people who have lots of money but no piano libraries yet, and there are plenty on the market. In fact these are omnipresent. I got two just from bundles.
