Hello fellow Zebraphiles! I thought I would ask for a little help regarding the built-in compressor modules in Zebra 2. I've been making some punchy, snappy sounds that produce a lot of sharp transients, and because of this, I need to kill massive gain spikes.

I've found that the "Strong" compressor algorithm works best for this, only the problem is a considerable amount of distortion is produced with incredibly fast attack times, and becomes even more noticeable with short release times.

Of course, I love this kind of distortion in certain situations, but I would love to be able to clip huge gain spikes, similar to the way a limiter would, without a bunch of grouchy distortion, though I understand that distortion is a fact of life with any amount of clipping, but if anyone knows of a way to somehow tame high-transient energy without too much distortion, I would be greatly appreciative! :tu:

Thanks!

Maybe another way of taming volume spikes would be to modulate the volume output with velocity and apply a negative amount.

instead of velocity, try a negative output vol mod using a relative, short envelope

Both very good solutions :D
